 Sue - a loving and caring friend who always takes care of Johnsy. Sue
always provided mental health to Johnsy, she sees the positive side out
of it and always convinces that thinking about death is a sin. She is the
symbol of optimism in Johnsy's life.
 Johnsy - suffering from pneumonia for several days. She used to
believe that her life is like last leaf of the vine tree, which is on the
verge to fall.
 Mr. Behrman - an old artist, braves a storm one night to paint a leaf
on the wall, a leaf that will never fall. Cold and wet from painting in
the icy rain, he catches penumonia and dies. This gives Johnsy the
hope to survive her illness.
