PRACTISE - EXERCISE 3
Listen to a conversation about animals in the Highland Wildlife Sanctuary. Complete the fact
sheets of the animals. You will hear the conversation twice. Number one is the example.

Now, let’s start!

Woman: Hey Marcelino, where did you go on vacation

last year?
Man: I went to a wildlife rescue centre in Perú called
Highland Wildlife Sanctuary.
Woman: Cool! And what kind of animals live there?
Man: There are so many animals, around two hundred
different species. But there are three with
special abilities.
Woman: What do you mean by special abilities?
Man: They can do things other animals of their
species can’t.
Woman: Tell me about them.
Man: You know that vicuñas can run fast. Right?
Woman: Sure …
Man: Well, the vicuña from Highland Wildlife
Sanctuary can’t run fast, but it can swim.

Woman: Really? What other animals were there?

Man: There was a spectacled bear called Paddington and he was white!
Woman: But they are usually black.
Man: Well, that is why it is special. Also, he was really fast. Can you believe it?
Woman: Wow. Two special characteristics. Incredible!
Man: And there was a maquisapa that has short arms and can’t climb trees.
Woman: That is sad…
Man: But still it is special. Volunteers take care of him.
