Importance of ICT in Education

ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. The document discusses how ICT has benefited education by allowing teachers to more easily create lesson plans and grade assignments, and students to more easily access information to support their academic needs. However, overreliance on ICT comes with negative impacts as well, such as students being more likely to plagiarize if information is too easily accessible. While ICT has positively impacted education by making the learning process more collaborative and effective, it is important to implement rules to avoid negative practices and overdependence on technology.

ICT in Education

ICT stands for Information Communication Technology. Whenever I hear of this term, the image
of primitive living and today's technology affecting humans life will pop out in my mind. Change
truly justifies its constancy. One of the biggest and remarkable history in the world, the
emergence of high technology and its continuing advancement. Because of this, education
become one of the benefactors of its influences. Both the teacher and the students is involved, as
it plays vital roles in fulfilling the desired learning outcomes.

ICT helps the teachers and the students work fast and easy. The teacher can electronically used
grading sheets, access latest informations from the internet and utilize today's educational
materials which can help them actualize their lesson plans effectively. The students can easily
access more information beyond the classroom walls that will help supports their academic
needs, specifically in making their assignments, projects, researches and many more. It has been
said of an author that " ICT not only transforms teaching but also the learning processes". The
process and the learning environment became more collaborative and communicative. In these
benefits it has, we can say that ICT is very important in today's society, thus it is a need to learn
and practice ICT skills.

On the other hand, though the benefits it has is undeniably visible to our society, the negative
impacts of it are many and is dangerous, especially if it is not given attention. It will misguide the
students and the teachers. The teachers might keep on depending on the ICT information and
materials and forgot to exercise their responsibility. The students hugely rely on technology,
since accessing information is easy, it is possible that they will do the "copy and paste" method
when they are making their assignments. Techonology reliability is important but people tend to
used it negatively.

In conclusion, the availability of ICT greatly contributes positive effects to education. The
workloads of the teachers and the students were lightened, and the learning process became
more effective. However, it is important to pay attention on negative practices in using
technology. It must be avoided, and the rules of ICT must be properly implemented and
exercised. ICT also helps boost confidedence, competence and creativity among the learners and
the teachers. Thus, ICT in education must be utilize accordingly.
