Fringe Theatre
Form of theater that is experimental in style and narrative (people can freely perform
anything
Frugal in nature (it doesn’t need a broadway or a grand theater, it can be done above the
pub or in the warehouse)
Ex. Fringe Manila
It’s like a collection of unique performances such as mimes and street performances
Immersive Theatre
Audiences can roam around the performance space as the performance happens around them,
allowing them to decide what they see or what they skip
They might be herded from room to room so they see the key scenes.
It is like an interactive museum
Melodrama
Form of theatre wherein plot, characters, dialogues are all exaggerated in order to appeal
directly to the audience’s emotions from the very beginning
Orchestral music are often used to accompany scenes or to signify characters
Sarswela – a type of melodrama, usually in three acts, that uses alternately spoken or sung
words.
