Title: The Cat

Summary:

The Cat begins in the dead winter, and the cat has a owner who is an old man. The owner had left from
his mountain and gone to another village to escape the cruel cold. Instead of taking his cat with him, the
owner had left his cat in the hut to fend for himself. That the reason why, we first meet the cat, he is
patiently waiting for his prey in the side of a mountain. It took him quite a long time to catch a rabbit
under the severe cold. Luckily, he then struggled the rabbit back home which was built by the owner
who had been gone since early fall. While the Cat was eating, “an old wandering Ishmael among his
kind” in search of shelter came in and settled down. Then they spent their time together in the same
hut. The cat thought him a good man, and he loved him with all his heart. One day, the man left. The Cat
spent his next few days in loneliness. After a hunting trip, the cat returned to the hut only to find out
that his master has come home. He was really happy because his master was finally back by his side.

One thing that I really like about this story is the way Freeman presented her cat, the author depicted
the flow of The Cat really well, that make me easily imagine a cat sharing his food with a human in
need. The story is so real that makes us readers have a feeling of being put into the story. Moreover,
another meaning of story that companionship is vital for everyone in every aspects of life, even for those
who are strong enough to survive alone in the hardest conditions.
