BROAD OUTCOME:
They are able to identify emotion/anger as well as strategies that they could use to be able to regulate
their emotions.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOME/S:


They are able to understand the red zone and the emotions that make up that zone with a basic
understanding of what strategies they can use to regulate their emotions.

Read the book Ravi’s Roar (mentor text) minutes
• What kind of emotion was Ravi feeling?
• What made him feel upset, mad or angry?
• It is okay to feel these emotions we just find ways to work through the
emotions.

Watch the YouTube video just breath – the first 1 minute and 13 seconds

What do you think the emotions look like for you?

These emotions are seen as red emotions and we say we are in the red zone. The red
zone has a lot of emotions in them. Mean, Mad, Yelling, Angry, Aggressive, Terrified
and Out of control.

Progression:
Students will draw what the emotion looks like for them on an A3 paper with colour
and detail.

We will then have a sharing circle where students are able to share their work, thoughts Progression: 30
and ideas. – 35 minutes

Conclusion:
We will watch the rest of the YouTube video where they suggest some strategies they
could use to regulate their emotions.
