Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are-

 To introduce the students about basic concepts of Crime and Principles of Criminal Law.
 To acquaint the students with the knowledge of Criminal Justice system in the context of changing circumstances.
 To study the basic concepts of specific offences under the Indian Penal Code.
 To enable the students to critically analyze the legislative developments and judicial pronouncements.

Pre-requisites: The student should have understood the basic legal concepts through legal theory or Jurisprudence.

Course Learning Outcomes: After the successful completion of Course Curriculum, a student should be able to:
 Define and explain the main components of Offences defined under Indian Penal Code, 1860.
 Demonstrate and apply those components to actual criminal cases.
 Distinguish the various concepts and offences under Indian Penal Code.
 Explain and Contrast judicial pronouncements on the merits of case.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


 E- Content of every topic will be made available to students before lecture session.
 For course delivery we use Lecture & discussion based applications to the students in order to make them aware about the subject.
 Case Studies are preferred so that they can raise their different issues with regard to the respective laws.
 Project in the form of Content/ Case study is assigned to each student individually.
 PSD activities (in Group) are assigned for self work, field work and Practical training.
