Conclusions

The proposed green route for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles from Melissa officinalis leaf extract provide an

efficient and functional methodology to obtain well dispersed and antimicrobial silver nanoparticles. Also, this

methodology is simple, economic and environmental friendly. Based on the results observed by FT-IR spectroscopy,

is possible to affirm that the organic compounds such as metabolites and phenols presents in the Melissa officinalis,

+ 0
promote the reduction of Ag ion to Ag .The particle size distribution observed can be associated to the antibacterial

activity of the AgNP`s, due that a well distribution of particle size promoting a major interaction between the cell

membrane of the S. aureus and E. coli bacteria and consequently, a significant antibacterial effect produced by the

AgNP`s. In this regard, we can affirm that the AgNP`s obtained by green methodologies offer a potential tool to

combat against increasing antibiotic resistance.
