OVERVIEW
The LM2500+ dual fuel system enables the gas turbine to operate on either natural gas or liquid
fuel. The dual fuel system delivers customer-supplied fuels to the turbine combustor via primary
and secondary fuel manifolds and dual-fuel nozzles.

Liquid Fuel System

To follow this description on the system F&ID, refer to your site-specific GE drawing 740260.

Main components of the liquid fuel system include:

 Liquid fuel boost pump and skid

 Instrumentation (transmitters, temperature elements and gauges)

 Liquid fuel filters

 Liquid fuel control valve

 Liquid fuel shutoff valve

 Pressurization valve

 Primary and secondary manifolds and nozzles

Liquid fuel is delivered to the inlet of the liquid fuel boost skid at connection point 65 at a flow
rate of 3.03 L/s (48 GPM), and a pressure of 2 BAR (30 psig). The purpose of the boost skid is
to increase fuel pressure and filter the fuel before delivering it to the main skid. Fuel supplied to
the boost pump skid must meet General Electric fuel quality requirements.

PT-2021 is used for a start crank permissive, a low fuel pressure alarm and for forwarding pump
motor sequencing. During a start, these devices are used to determine whether the main fuel-
forwarding pump has started. If, after a time delay, their 0.69bar (10 PSIG) set point is not
satisfied, the standby fuel-forwarding pump will be commanded to start. If again it is not
satisfied, the MicroNet Plus will indicate a failure to start.

Pressure transmitter PT-2021 monitors incoming fuel pressure. If PT-2021 goes below 0.7 bar
(10 PSIG), an alarm is issued indicating low fuel pressure. If PT-2021 sees a pressure below 0.3
bar (5 PSIG), the system will initiate an FSWM. If pressure increases to 3.4 BAR (50 PSIG), a
high pressure alarm will be issued. If pressure increases to 4.1 BAR (60 PSIG) an FSWM will
be initiated.

The boost pump will provide the increase in fuel pressure needed to overcome compressor
discharge pressure (CDP) and inject fuel in the engine. It is powered by MOT-2022 its discharge
temperature monitored by TE-2024. The RTD alarms at 60 C (140 F) and initiates an SDTI at
71 C (160 F).

A last chance, redundant filter system is installed prior to the fuel-metering valve. These filters
are monitored by PDT-2020 and will annunciate an alarm condition should one of the elements
become clogged (1.7 BAR, 25 PSID). Switching to the standby filter can be done while the
turbine is operating provided the secondary element has been primed and purged.

Liquid fuel from the boost pump is delivered to main skid, where incoming pressure is measured
by pressure transmitters PT-2070 A and B. That pressure is used as a fuel transfer permissive.
Also PT-2070 A and B will issue an alarm for pressure reading higher than 79.3 bar (1150 PSIG)
and a FSWM for pressures higher than 82.7 BAR (1200 PSIG).

The fuel system has two 24VDC solenoid operated stop valves, SOV-2018 and SOV-2012.
SOV-2018 is integrated to the fuel control valve. These two solenoid valves are shutoff valves
for the liquid fuel. They are used to isolate the engine from the fuel system in the event of an
emergency and also act as fuel manifold drain valves. The 24VDC power for these valves is
removed from them in the event of an emergency trip. Both valves have current monitoring and
are tested for operational ability at every start condition. In addition to this feature, both valves
are monitored in the turbine control panel, and will automatically cut fuel to the engine in the
event of a momentary loss of valve power. This is done to prevent explosive re-lighting of the
turbine, which could cause engine damage. Also, each rack of the control system provides
redundant outputs to each valve so that failure of one rack does not automatically trip the GTG.

PT-2029 and PT-2030 are the pressure transmitter for the primary and secondary fuel supply to
the liquid fuel manifold respectively and are used for fuel scheduling and protection.

At the heart of the liquid fuel system is FCV-2018, the liquid fuel metering valve.
This device is an electric motor fuel valve with integral shutoff. The valve is controlled and
monitored by its driver. It has a dual coil motor with a revolver and also has an LVDT (linear
variable differential transformer) for position feedback. The driver status is monitored by the
control system through a digital input. The valve is driven according to limits and control
algorithms per GE LM2500 control specifications.

The liquid fuel system delivers fuel to the turbine combustor through primary and secondary
liquid fuel manifolds, which are connected to the 30 dual-fuel nozzles.

Gas Fuel System

To follow this description on the system F&ID, refer to your site-specific GE drawing 740260.

The main components of the gas fuel system include:

 Gas fuel gas strainer
 Instrumentation (transmitters, temperature elements and gauges)
 Primary fuel gas shutoff valve
 Gas fuel metering valve
 Secondary fuel gas shutoff/vent valve
 Fuel gas pressure control valve
 Fuel gas manifold
 Fuel nozzles

Customer-supplied gas fuel is provided at connection point 10 at a rate of 320 MMBtu/hr

maximum, and a steady state pressure of 520 psig (3585 kPaG). Gas fuel must meet General
Electric quality requirements per specification MID-TD-0000-1.

After passing through a strainer, temperature sensors TE-2032A, 2032B, 2032C and 2032D
monitor the gas fuel supply temperature having an alarm condition for temperatures above 82 C
(180° F), a CDLO for temperatures greater than 88 C (190 °F) and an FSLO for temperatures
higher than 93 Deg C (200° F).

PT-2027A and PT-2027B monitor gas fuel supply pressure and will issue a low pressure alarm
depending on the NGG speed. PT-2027A will also issue a high-pressure alarm if the pressure
goes above 41 bar (600 PSIG). A FSWM shutdown will be initiated if pressure goes higher than
45 bar (650 PSIG).

The gas fuel system has one shut off valve (FSV-2006), an electric motor fuel-metering valve
(FCV-2001) and another shut off / vent valve (FSV-2004).

Gas fuel pressure in the gas manifold is monitored by PT-2028.
