BURNING TIRES
INTRODUCTION

This essay refers to the issue about the environment’s pollution, through inadequate
management procedures that are given in Bogotá and other cities of the country to
used tires or what is known as the burning tires. Which produces harmful effects on the
health of living beings and their existence on the planet. According to studies carried
out in Bogotá, more than 2,050 daily tires end up invading public space.
FIRST: The first alert was made by "EL TIEMPO" in September 2014, and although
the abandonment of tires in public spaces which has always existed, furthermore, the
problem increased at the end of last year. The sad thing about this news is that the
authorities do not know what to do with this phenomenon, it is mentioned that there is
a great legal vacuum in the resolution of the Ministry of the Environment that regulates
the management of used tires in the District.
SECOND: What should be of concern, is the dire consequences that this practice of
burning tires has on humans and living beings in the ecosystem, since this procedure
produces the well-known black smoke, which scientific research has shown can
contain Monoxide - Dioxide carbon, sulfur dioxide these elements affect the ozone
layer.
THIRD: Why does this concern arise to investigate what happens to those used tires?
One day I arrived at a Diagnostic Center to change the tires of the vehicle, everything
went normal until when they finished, I observed the handling they gave to the tires
that had been changed, I followed the track and reached a point that had as a
recycling point for those tires, a Single r small conditioned as a cellar at the back of the
premises. I found used tires in poor condition and full of decomposed water of a
greenish color with a bad smell, I conveyed my concern to the administrator and what
he did was to make fun of the situation and he gave me a hug and told me, “brother
worry about things more important than used tires, that is garbage and soon will take
them and burn them and would be a solved the problem. Here I was more concerned
with that solution.
Finally:
Pollution occurs when certain physical, chemical, or biological agents appear in the
environment that produce harmful effects on living beings that can endanger the
existence of life on the planet, and we find insensitive people and I include myself in
this list Until recently, we did not measure the consequences of our irresponsible acts
with the environment.
According to the pulmonologist Natalia Londoño, an internist, these polluting elements,
like all fumes, have a negative impact on respiratory and pulmonary health. People
who are susceptible or with concomitant pulmonary diseases (asthmatic processes,
COPD and pneumonia) can develop complications when coming into contact with
smoke, the same as children and the elderly.
Health effects can range from irritation to the respiratory tract and exposed mucosa,
with reactions ranging from coughing, lacrimation, increased secretions and breathing
difficulty. When the contact with the smoke is permanent, alterations in the skin and
other organs, even digestive organs, may occur.

CONCLUSIONS

Our commitment is not to stand still in the face of this problem. It is necessary that the
authorities of the Ministry of the Environment sector, producers and importers of tires
commit to the city, and the country is seeking to create an economic process that
benefits the quality of life of human beings
This production of tires and the problems to make them disappear once they have
been used, one of the biggest and serious environmental problems of the last years in
the whole world.
Implement ways and methods to achieve a significant recycling of products, but there
is a lack of policies that promote the collection and implementation of industries that do
the task of properly recycling all these tires that affect the environment.
If we are responsible and aware that it is in our hands to ensure a better future for our
children, and future generations. Let's not damage life.
