Drawing about the Story

Read the story:

The Crow and the Pitcher


Adapted from Aesop by Dinah C. Bonao

On a hot summer day, a thirsty


crow looked for water to drink.
“It’s hot! I am thirsty!” said the crow.
“I need to find water.”
The crow flew from one place to
another looking for water to drink. He
finally found a pitcher near a well.
But there was only little water in the
pitcher.
He tried to drink from the pitcher but no matter how much he
tried, he could not reach the water.
“My beak is too big. The pitcher’s neck is very narrow. How will I get
the water?” he thought.
Then an idea came to the crow. He picked up some small
stones. He dropped them into the pitcher one by one.
“One, two, three…” Plop, plip, plop. Little by little, the water rose in
the pitcher.
“Four, five, six…” Plop, plip, plop. The water rose some more.
Soon the crow could reach the water.
“Now, I can drink!” said the crow. “Ah! It’s cold and good!”.

Providing Another Ending for a Story

Read the story:


Karen’s Birthday

December 25 is Karen’s birthday. Every year, her mother


prepares cake, cookies and food for Karen’s friends and classmates.
This time mother prepares special foods and delicacies for Karen’s
9th birthday. Karen is happy to receive birthday gifts from her friends
and classmates.

Before lunch, her mother calls “Karen, look who is coming,”


Karen immediately looks out. She cannot hold herself and run to
meet her father with a big box wrapped in a beautiful gift wrapper.
“I bought this for you from Saudi Arabia. I am glad to be home
on your birthday,” father said.

see what happened. Someone was crying loudly.
“Call an ambulance quickly,” somebody shouted

Why Are We at HOME and not at SCHOOL?

Coronavirus can be called “COVID-19”.


Coronavirus is a new type of flu. A flu will make you feel sick,
but it is ok, you feel better again. My school might be close
for a while, everyone will stay at home instead, my school
will be closed to keep my teachers and friends safe.
Meanwhile, I can keep safe at home by washing my hands
with soap and water before I eat my food, after I sneeze,
blow my nose, and after I go
to the restroom. My teacher and friend miss me, and I do
too.

How about you do you miss your teacher and friends during
this time of pandemic too? You can find ways on how to
communicate with them. In a paragraph of three to four
sentences tell me what ways you can do to get to see
them? How would you feel when you talk to them?

Write a Diary

Read the story, then answer the questions below.

In a field, one summer


day, a grasshopper hopped
about, chirped, and sang to
his heart’s content. An ant
passed by.
On his back, he carried
a grain of corn he harvested.
He walked with great effort.
He needed to take the grain of corn to his home. “Why not come
and have a chat with me, “said the grasshopper, “instead of
working and carrying that food on your back?”

“There must be food for the rainy days, “said the ant,
“and you can do the same.”

“Why bother about the rainy days? “said the


grasshopper, “We have plenty of food at present.” The grasshopper
sang all day. He played his guitar all day long.

The ant went on his way and continued to work and work.
When the rainy days came, the grasshopper had no food. He found
himself cold and hungry.
The ant saw him. He pitied the grasshopper and offered
him some food to eat. The grasshopper and offered him some food
to eat. The grasshopper knew what he needed to do next time.

Things to Remember in Writing a Diary

1. Write the date (day, month, and year) on the top corner
of a page.
2. You may address the diary as a friend and write
Dear Diary.
3. Write the diary entry in the first person (I or We) since
This is your personal story or personal account of the event.
4. Write the events in a correct order.
5. Provide important details of the place, time, people
or things that were part of the events.
6. Write about your feelings and detail and explain
why you feel that way.
7. You can draw or stick picture to make the entry
more interesting.
