CHAPTER 4 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter shows the overall findings from the survey and questionnaires that was

given to the respondents as part of the observation and analyzation. The respondents came from

the Senior High School students of Saint John Academy Senior High School and Mother

Margherita De Brincat Catholic School. The focus of the results and discussion will be based

upon the effects of fake news to the students and the main reason why students have a hard time

analyzing a fake news in order to clarify the results and findings.

The research design that we have used was the case study method which made an

effectiveness for the process of the entire findings of the research. The Case study method

became our director which arrived to the right path of our observation. It showed the main

reasons why students took a hard time analyzing a fake news. In Table 1.1 and Table 1.2 shows

that the majority of male and female agreed that it would be hard for the people to analyze what

is legit from what is the fake ones if they continue to spread fake news. Based on our observation

many people have trouble analyzing what are the fake news especially when they usually share

issues that are not relatable to discuss or to see. In addition, Table 3.1 and 3.2 represents the

location where people spot fake news. The majority of answers went obviously to social media

category. Why? Because people especially the students nowadays usually prefer using gadgets

like smart phones, tablets and computers especially the internet. Wherein, Television, Radio and

other forms of technology are not preferred by the students to use as the source of information.

That is why students tend to give irrational comments about the issue. The result was shown in

Table 4.1 and 4.2 wherein the majority of male and female students think that it will make them

give irrational thoughts and comments about the issue. It will also lead to confusion about where

did the issue came from. These are the Tables representing each results of the findings.
