Here in the Philippines, there are laws and practices which are considered unethical.

The fact that something is legal does not necessarily make it ethical. There are instances
wherein laws and practices are only made for the benefit of those who created such.
One of the social practices that are prevalent in our world today is corruption. It is a
form of dishonesty undertaken by those who are in positions of power and authority to
acquire illicit benefits and gains. Common acts of corruption include bribery,
embezzlement, theft, and fraud. Corruption is considered a social practice that has been
normalized here in the country. Nowadays, people tend to link corruption to politicians as
if corruption is a normal practice. People already expect that those who have power are
innately corrupt, which they use as a justification in voting corrupt officials. Under the
domains of ethical assessments, corruption itself is unethical and wrong since it involves
the act of stealing that only suffices the self-interest of the corrupt, which results into major
problems in the society such as the increase of poverty and the decline in public service
quality. People who resort in committing corruption are vicious since they know that such
act is unethical yet they still do the act. With this, their motive and intention is evil since
they are the only ones who will benefit from such action.
In July 27, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte talked about his plan on the
reimposition of capital punishment for crimes that are specified under the Comprehensive
Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Death Penalty is a government-sanctioned practice that
involves the unlawful, torturous, and inhumane killing of individuals which is against the
universal moral principle. If decided upon, it would be an irrevocable choice. Here in the
Philippines, extra-judicial killings have been going on since President Duterte came to
power. The president urged the public to kill anyone who they suspect to be criminals and
drug addicts. He even said that he would pardon policemen who are able to kill drug
dealers and drug addicts. With all of these, President Duterte made it possible for people to
kill without the consequence of facing criminal charges. This is, without a doubt, unethical
and unlawful. Under the domains of the ethical assessments, the action of killing is utterly
wrong and the fact that the killings that happened and are still happening is being tolerated
makes the action even more wrong. The consequence of such act would be the deprivation
of the right to life of the victims. Not only are criminals being killed, but also innocent
people. People who resort and tolerate killings are vicious, wherein their motives and
intentions are neutral since some people kill for justice, while some people kill just for
revenge, which makes the reasoning subjective.
