Hello again for this week !!

Sorry for being a little late this week due to some technical issue…
Here comes the lesson for today:The Passive Voice

THE PASSIVE VOICE

First of all we should know what Passive Voice is used for.

The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action
rather than the person or object that performs the action. In other words, the most important thing
or person becomes the subject of the sentence.-Suntem interesati de obiectul sau persoana care
sufera consecinta unei actiuni,nu de persoana care infaptuieste actiunea.

Mother washed the carpets-Active Voice

The carpets were washed by mother-Passive Voice.

What did mother wash?-The carpets.

Complementul direct de la diateza active devine subiect la diateza pasiva(sau subiect gramatical-
raspunde la intrebarea ‘’cine/ce?’’)

The Direct Object in the Active Voice turns into Subject in the Passive Voice. !!

Subiectul de la diateza active devine complement de agent sau subiect logic(intrucat indeplineste
actiunea).

The Subject in the Active Voice turns into agentive(agent complement) or logical subject.

Deci, dupa cum vedeti, subiectul grammatical nu se suprapune intotdeauna cu cel logic !!

Sometimes we use the passive voice because we don't know or do not want to
express who performed the action.
Utilizam,de asemenea, diateza pasiva atunci cand nu se stie cine a infaptuit o
actiune sau nu suntem interesati de cine a fost infaptuita acea actiune.

The castel was built in the XVII th century.Castelul a fost contruit in secolul al
VII-lea.-we don’t know/don’care who built it.

The passive voice is often used in formal texts. Switching to the active voice will
make your writing clearer and easier to read.

Se foloseste in textele formale si cere o buna stapanire a gramaticii limbii

engleze,de aceea este mai rar folosita.

Forming the Passive Voice

Not an easy task,it requires good skills of tenses !! :D

Basically the Passive Voice is made up of two elements:

-the verb ‘’to be’’

-the Past Participle of the verb (the 3rd form of the verb)-participiul trecut al verbului de conjugat

!!! The verb To Be needs to be conjugated in the same tense as the verb in the Active Voice

Verbul a fi se conjuga la acel timp la care se gaseste verbul de la diateza active.

Things stay the same in Romanian.Este la fel si in limba romana.

Activa: Voi spala niste camasi.

Pasiva:Niste camasi vor fi spalate de catre mine.

Avem viitor in Activa, verbul a fi este conjugat la viitor in Pasiva.-Logic,isn’t it??
