New Functionality Demonstration
AVCS Folio & ENC Unit de-confliction in the Basket

AVCS tab:
• Improved usage band display.
• Data Assessment Notes
Temporary & Preliminary (T&P) NMs
New usage band filters added
to the display of individual
ENC Units on the AVCS tab.
Data Assessment Notes are attached
to all ENCs where the UKHO’s ENC
Assessment programme has
identified a navigationally significant
difference between the ENC and the
equivalent Admiralty paper chart.
When highlighted, individually or in
Folios, cells with Notes are hatched.
When a Unit or Folio containing an
ENC with a Data Assessment Note is
added to the Basket, a ‘Notes found!’
warning is displayed.
Within the Basket, ENCs with Data
Assessment Notes are shown with
warning text in the ‘Notes’ column.
Note that ENC Units and Folios must be
expanded to the ENC cell level to see the
warning text.
The full warning text can be displayed by clicking on the text
in the ‘Notes’ column in the basket.
The full details of the differences between each ENC and the
equivalent Admiralty paper chart are given in a file called
Cellnotes.txt that is located in the INFO folder on the AVCS
Base and Update CDs.
The Basket will not allow This check is automatically run
ENC Units to be added if when the Basket is saved and
they are part of an already can be manually started with
selected Folio. the ‘tick’ button.
If a Folio is added to the
Basket, any ENC Units that
it contains are automatically
removed.
This prevents products
being ordered twice.
The displayed NMs can be
filtered using the
underlying chart scales.
NMs without a chart
reference can be displayed
by pressing ‘misc. T&P
NMs’. This button will be
unavailable if there are no
miscellaneous NMs.

The T&P NMs tab


shows all existing T&P
NMs using the
geographical limits of
the charts that they
affect.
Normal Catalogue searches, by point, area or route, can
be performed on T&P NMs.
Search results are displayed in the ‘Products Found’
window, which includes a list of the charts affected by
each NM and a link to view the NM text.
The text of the selected NMs
can be viewed by clicking the
‘View’ link.
The NM text can be saved, in
HTML format, or printed for
inclusion in a passage plan.
Related diagrams are not
displayed and a reference to
NMWebSearch or the AVCS
CDs is provided.
The displayed text includes a
caution that the standard NM
Bulletins are still required for
SOLAS compliance.
The text of all the selected NMs
can be viewed in a single list by
clicking the ‘View All’ link.
