SUBJECT: CLARIFICATIONS REQUIRED ON FLARE STACK DESIGN

The following clarifications are required,

1. Please fill the attached Flare Data Sheet and return back.
2. We assume the plant site is India. Please confirm.
3. We assume the flare gas pressure mentioned is at the battery limit of Flare
KOD and indicate temperature also.
4. The flowrate of flare gas 40 kg/hr is continuous load? What is peak flare load?
And is it intermittent? However, flare package will be designed for peak load.
Please confirm.
5. How much liquid content is expected in the flare gas? And will it be on
continuous or intermittent basis?
6. The gas composition mentions others as 10%. Please let us know details on
others composition? Does the flare gas have sulphur content in it?
7. Flare System will be designed according to API 521/537/OISD standards.
Please confirm.
8. All vessels (including stack) sizing/Hydraulic calculations of pumps/Line sizing
etc., will be with in-house developed excel calculation sheets. Please confirm.
9. If Computational Flow Dynamic (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of
flare stack is in scope of work?
10. Please clarify the scope of work and supply for pilot burners/ignition
system/flame front generator. We feel these are special proprietary items and
shall be designed and supplied by others. We will provide the functional
specifications only. Please confirm.
11. Please confirm the requirement of smoke suppression assist system.
12. All required utilities will be supplied at the battery limit of flare stack skid.
Please confirm.
13. Please indicate the list of engineering softwares to be followed during
engineering. (Say, PID – AUTOCAD, piping layout – PDMS/PDS/AUTOCAD,
Civil & Structural – STADD Pro etc).
14. Participation (Support) in HAZOP study will be in scope of work. Client will
appoint HAZOP chairman to carry out this study.
15. Preparation/approval of documentation required by statutory bodies is not in
scope of work. However, all input information will be supplied by us.
16. Erection, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning and other site
support activities will be excluded from scope of work.
17. All design and engineering activities like process, piping, instrumentation and
controls, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural for the package will be
included as part of our scope.
18. Please indicate the schedule for completion of engineering and design.
