B
arwa Real Estate’s latest
initiative will highlight the
company’s commitment
to creating value and adding a
human dimension to real estate
projects, by continuously con-
tributing to the highest standards
of sustainability, HE the Minister
of Culture and Sports Salah bin
Ghanim bin Nasser al-Ali has
said.
He made the statement yes-
terday during the launch cere-
mony of Madinatna, a residential
city for families, and Barahat Al
Janoub, a workers accommoda-
tion project.
The two upcoming projects are
located in Al Wakra city.
Barwa’s upcoming projects
consolidate the principles of its
strategic partnership with the
Qatar government, HE al-Ali
stressed.
Further, he assured that Barwa
will continue to develop pioneer-
ing residential cities and create
sustainable communities, which
reflect the growth in population
and urban development across
Qatar, and aligned with Qatar
National Vision 2030.

During the event, al-Romaihi
and UrbaCon Trading and Con-
tracting (UCC) managing direc-
tor Ramez al-Khayyat signed a
contract awarding the construc-
tion works of the two projects to
UCC.
The signing ceremony was
held in the presence of HE al-Ali,
who is also chairman of Barwa
Real Estate, Supreme Committee

Al-Romaihi stressed that
Barwa is keen to create support

he Public Works Authority
(Ashghal) has announced
the completion of the
main upgrading works at Bu Sidra
Roundabout.
In a press statement yesterday,
Ashghal said the works include
converting the roundabout into
a signalised intersection and car-
rying out infrastructure upgrade
works.
The recently-developed sig-
nalised intersection is now open
to traffic and the infrastructure
works are now 80% complete, as
part of the Road Improvements
Works for Junctions & Rounda-
bouts in Various Areas of Greater
Doha, Phase 8.

highlighted the importance of
upgrading the Bu Sidra Rounda-
bout into a signalised intersec-
tion.
It links Al Waab Street, Al
Sedaira Street, and Ras Laffan

Ramez al-Khayyat expressed
gratitude to Barwa for having

After the signing ceremony,
Barwa officials accompanied HE
the Minister and other VIPs on
a tour of a furnished full-scale
mock-up of the Madinatna
project for a glimpse into the final
realistic perspective of residen-
tial units there.

Street and Al Sailiya Road, which
are characterised by heavy traffic
movement.
The newly-upgraded inter-
section also serves several edu-
cational and health institutions,
and facilitates access to estab-
lishments such as the Muaither
Sports Club, the Barwa Al Sailiya
Compound, the Aspire Zone
Foundation, Villaggio, and Hyatt
Plaza.
Al-Marri added that the new
intersection also connects sur-
rounding areas such as Fereej Al
Manaseer, Bu Sidra, Muaither,
Baaya, and Al Aziziyah.
He also said that the comple-
tion of the upgrading works at
the intersection and the expan-
sion of its lanes have signifi-
cantly enhanced traffic flow and
reduced congestion in the area,
especially as the project is aimed
at improving vehicular capacity
at the intersection known as Bu

The retail outlets and other
services at Barwa Village will also
serve the project due to the close
location of the two cities, as well
as its proximity to Mesaimeer
city and Masaken Mesaimeer, Al
Wakra Hospital and all recrea-
tional facilities in Al Wakra city,
including beaches and parks.
On the other hand, Barahat Al
Janoub will be a fully integrated
city for workers in Al Wakra city,
following the highest interna-
tional standards of implementa-
tion.

The upgrade works included
expanding the intersection and
increasing the number of lanes
on Al Sailiya Road from three to
five lanes in each direction, and
eventually to seven on comple-
tion of all the works.
On Al Sedaira Street and Ras
Laffan Street, lanes will be in-
creased from three to four lanes
in each direction.
Al-Marri said that local ma-
terials and manufacturers were
relied upon for most of the
project works, in line with the
Public Works Authority’s sup-
port for local manufacturers and
773,457sq m, with a design in-
spired by Arab homes with
courtyards.
It will consist of 1,404 G+2
units equipped with smart city
technology, offering 16,848
rooms, each accommodating up
to four persons.
Barahat Al Janoub will accom-
modate approximately 67,360
people, providing residents with
various service facilities, such
as hypermarkets, retail stores,
mosques and other public serv-
ices, bringing the total built-up
area to approximately 750,742sq
m.
The project is located next to
the Ta’heel initiative, which was
launched in 2017.
Materials and elements sup-
plied by local manufacturers in-
cluded sewage, surface water and
rainwater drainage pipes, and
lighting poles and luminaires.
The local Qatar component
now accounts for 80% of the
project.
Further to converting the
roundabout into a signalised in-
tersection, the project’s scope of
works will include the upgrade of
2km of roads and the provision of
a new service road, in addition to
the installation of a new lighting
system for the service roads.
Al Wakra Central Market on Me-
saieed Road, and is near develop-
mental projects and sustainable
facilities such as the Al Wakrah
logistics district, Umm Al Houl
Free Zone, Hamad Port and Ha-
mad International Airport, in
addition to facilities in Al Wakra
city such as hospitals and stadi-
ums.
Barahat Al Janoub is con-
nected to the highway network,
which adds value to the distinc-
tive location of the project and
“provides an extra privilege for
companies looking to accom-
modate their workers in an inte-
grated city”.
Once complete, the infra-
structure services’ enhancement
works will cover the upgrade
of the surface and stormwater
drainage system over a length
of 3.4km, and provide a treated
sewage effluent (TSE) network,
and protecting electricity and
telecommunications service
lines.
The road will also have direc-
tional signs and markings.
To encourage a healthy life-
style, the projects will feature
pedestrian and cycle paths
alongside Al Sailiya Road as well
as landscaping works and plant-
ing of trees.
