The system consists of :

- Launch ramps for boat with polyamide rollers on stainless steel shafts
- Davit arm hinged to launch ramp
- Hydraulic winch mounted on davit arm
- Hydraulic cylinders
- Hydraulic aggregate with integrated hydraulic valves for operating
system
- Galvanized steel wire rope
- Electric starter mounted under deck or in door
- Remote push button, IP 56

Requirements/ Test
- In compliance with the requirement of SOLAS 2000 amendment to SOLAS 1974
and national authorities
Life-saving appliance code (LSA) and Resolution MSC47(66) and MSC48(66) and
MSC.218 (82) Resolution MSC.272 (85) and also has been approved by MED
classification.

 ABSTRACT / MAINTENANCE

1. ABSTRACT

A. GENERAL
- The operators have to be fully familiar with the davit system and its
functions. More than one operator should be appointed to this job.
- All crew members should be familiar with the operation and instruction in
this manual.

B. OPERATION OF DAVIT
- The control levers should be operated sensitively and avoided jerking
movements at all times.

C. PAINTING OF DAVIT SYSTEM

- It is essential to insure that no paint is deposited on lubrication
points, bearing or any other moving part during paint work.

2. MAINTENANCE

A. GENERAL
- When reeving new wire falls or when inspecting or working on davit no
loosened objects should be stored on drum.
- The davit installations should not be used for the attachment of lines
and / or any other purpose.

B. LUBRICATION
- To insure that the davit is always in working order, regular inspections
and cations should be taken.
- All lubrication nipples on davit, hydraulic cylinders and boat winch must
be regularly inspected every 6 weeks, or more frequently and greased with
a high pressure grease gun.
- It is recommended that a red ring be painted around all grease nipples.

C. FILTER IN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

- The filter in the oil tank must be replaced regularly.

D. OIL CHANGE
- The quality of the hydraulic oil in the tank should be checked regularly.
- The oil should be replaced at least once a year.

E. NOTE
- Maintenance of cleanliness is very important when working on a hydraulic
system.

 PRODUCTION INSTALLATION & TEST

Part of production tests were performed in "BDF35S Davit" as follows :

- Certificates for used material were presented to surveyor.

- Fall rope are supe ied with a manufacturer certificate of test
indicating the breaking strength of the rope which is to be not less than
6 times maximum tension.
- All welds were visually examined.
- Fall block with complete suspension was tested 2.2 times of S.W.L.
"STATIC".
- Load test of 1.5 times of individual S.W.L. was conducted on the winch
brakes.
- "STATIC" load test of 2.2 times of Max. S.W.L. was conducted on the top
of davit arm in full outreach out. (List 5° Trim 2° ).
- "DYNAMICAL" launching test of 1.1 times of Max. S.W.L. in "CONTROLLED"
mode(With winch and davit arm) was conducted.

After final mounting on board and final welding of all connection flanges and
foundations, following tests has to be performed at Yard :

1. Each new free fall lifeboat is to be loaded to 1.1 times of full loading
weight and launched by free fall with the ship on en even keel and its
lightest seagoing conditions.
2. It is to be demonstrated that the lifeboat may be recovered to its
storage position and can be safely and properly secured.
