I. INTRODUCTION
Calculus plays a very important role in our community. Without it, cannot create
beautiful and outstanding infrastructures and buildings. Calculus has a major role in architecture.
Not only does it provide structure to a certain building, but it also used to create arches with
perfect symmetry. The use of calculus is to change the old way of creating architectural designs,
creating the most beautiful and unique buildings with different shapes. In addition to that,
calculus is also used to improve infrastructure such as bridges. Due to its complexity and ability
to support weights across large spaces, math such integral calculus and differential calculus are
used, in order to provide an efficient yet sturdy bridge.
This research paper will tackle the different application of basic calculus, specifically, in
the field of architecture. The researchers conduct a research on how calculus can be used in the
field of architectural designing. In the said application, architectsh use three major parts of
calculus: Differential Calculus; Vector Calculus; Integral Calculus. Aside from that, readers will
also be able to know how calculus is used structural analysis, inferior designing, acoustics and
surface area. Readers can expect to see various formulas that are used for a specific field in
architecture.

II. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this research is to show how calculus is applied in engineering,
specifically architecture. The researchers chose this topic to inform everyone the importance of
calculus, even in the field of architecture. Furthermore, this paper aims to explain how calculus
work on the following field:

A. Acoustics
B. Structural Analysis
C. Surface Area

The researchers’ intent is to show the importance of calculus not only in papers, but also
to our daily lives.
III. EXPLANATION

A. Acoustics

Architects uses calculus for acoustics to produce better quality of sound by producing the
right reverberation within the building. In order to provide great quality of sound and echo,
architects measures and creates a perfectly-shaped curve structure in order for the sound to
expand and provide better acoustics. To create a perfectly curved structure, Architects uses
Angular Frequency. Angular Frequency is a scalar measure of rotation rate and measures the
frequency with which the phase changes. It is the magnitude of the angular frequency vector
quantity. In other words, angular frequency is the number of orbits an object makes around
another object is a certain time (Edaboard).

2π (1)
ω=
T

where:
ω – angular frequency (in radians per second)
T – period (in seconds)

Since the value of 1-unit circle is 2π, we can denote that 1 rotation is equal to 2π.
