Voice Lesson Reflection for 9/1/20

[ulu ulu ulu ulu ulu] (the first [u] of each was partially occluded by a back [l])

- This was really hard for me I am not at all used to the feeling of that l colored [u] to me
it almost feels like gargling
[u] (once again this is the [l] colored [u]

- We did some sirens trying to get me to get the [ul]

- Tight toungs have strong gag reflex (this is very true of me)
- I felt a scratchy tickle in the back of my throat
- We did some more slides/sirens in an attempt to alleviate the tickle
- Bb was the first key that really felt and sounded good as we ascended
- As we got higher, we took out the first half of the excersise and started at the top
- We did small moans and added them before the exercise for a few times
- Added the suppressed belch at Ab (at the top)
- Slow slide up the on a suppressed belch this gave it a much more grounded feeling to
the top
- Rainbow palate not cathedral
- It’s still a fight of lowering the Larynx and raising the palate
- Only feel the sides of the rainbow and not visualize the entire top felt good
- Perpetual yawn
- There were a few that were so close, but it sounded like I gave up after the onset
- Push the skin down over the clavicle to try and keep the Larynx down
- Think of keeping the Larynx open before and think that it will still be open at the end of
the excersize
- Used low Gorilla grunts [hu] before the first note of the exercise

C’est l’extase
- Let the last 2 notes of the first phrase ooze down into my mix
- Don’t let the bright [a] bring the larynx up
- Mind the rhythm at the bottom of the first page
- Observe the molto rit at the top of the second
- [wɔ] on the way up to the g’s
- [ty]
- Use the semi occlusion of the [v] in vide to pull the larynx down
- Add some [I] to miene
- Sing [tja] on the a
- Use the [d] on Dont
