IS POPE FRANCIS PROPHESIED IN THE THIRD SECRET OF FATIMA?

Last March 28, at 1:00 AM (Manila Time), nakita natin ang “Urbi et Orbi” blessing ni Pope
Francis dahil sa corona virus outbreak [1]. Ang word na “Urbi et Orbi” means “for the city and
for the world”, and this signifies na ang papal document ay addressed hindi lang sa entire Rome
but to the entire Catholic world [2]. After ng blessing ni Pope Francis, I was surprised because I
saw numerous posts na nag comment kay Pope Francis as the fulfillment of the third part of the
secret of Fatima. May nakita akong post tungkol kay Pope Francis na ang title ay “Is the Third
Secret of Fatima unfolding [3]?” There is another Facebook post that says:

“At the end of the Fatima vision the BISHOP IN WHITE himself was KILLED [4] [emphasis
added].”
.
Take note na ang mga posts na nag coconnect kay Pope Francis sa Secret of Fatima ay nag
seshare ng kanilang opinions, and what I will be doing here is share my opinion as well. Before I
give my insights, it’s important to know kung ano ba ang prophecy na kinoconnect nila kay Pope
Francis.

“And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a
mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was
the Holy Father'…before reaching there the HOLY FATHER passed through a big city half in
ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the
souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at
the FOOT of the BIG CROSS he was KILLED by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and
arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men
and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions [5] [emphasis
added].”

May mga tao na nag interpret na ang cross na tinutukoy diyan ay ang makikita sa “Urbi et Orbi”
blessing ni Pope Francis, who is the Bishop in White, and that he will be killed. However, it’s
important to understand na one reason kung bakit shinare ng Vatican ang message ng secret of
the Fatima ay dahil nangyari na to from the past. Cardinal Ratzinger (the future Pope Benedict
XVI) said:
..
“Insofar as individual events are described, they BELONG TO THE PAST. Those who
expected exciting APOCALYPTIC REVELATIONS about the END OF THE WORLD or the
future course of history are bound to be DISAPPOINTED [5] [emphasis added].”

It’s possible to interpret ang big cross to be symbolic rather than literal. Jimmy Akin, an
apologist from Catholic Answers, said:

“First, its depiction of events is non-literal. When it describes the POPE’S ASCENT to the
FOOT of a CROSS, it can be seen as SYMBOLIC of the CONTINUAL STRUGGLE of the
pope to FOLLOW CHRIST [6] [emphasis added].”

One interpretation ng vision ni Sister Lucia sa pagkamatay ng Pope ay ang naganap na
assassination kay Pope John Paul II na naganap nung May 13, 1981, anniversary ng first Fatima
apparition. In the document by the Congregation for the Donctrine of the Faith entitled “The
Message of Fatima”, it says:

“As regards the passage about the BISHOP dressed IN WHITE, that is, the HOLY FATHER
—as the children immediately realized during the “vision”—who is struck dead and falls to the
ground, SISTER LUCIA was in FULL AGREEMENT with the Pope's claim that “it was a
MOTHER'S HAND that GUIDED the BULLET'S PATH and in his throes the Pope halted at
the THRESHOLD OF DEATH” [5] [emphasis added].”

However, may mga criticism sa interpretation na si Pope John Paul II ang nasa vision ni Sister
Lucia. Some people may ask, “Hindi naman namatay si Pope John Paul II, paano niyo masasabi
na siya ang nasa secret of the Fatima?” May two responses dito. Una, it’s possible na Sister
Lucia thought that the Pope died. Let’s remember na ito ay isang vision, and sa assassination ni
Pope John Paul II, maraming nag akala na it will be the end of his life. Pangalawa, the
intercession of Mary changed what could have happened. In fact, may mga mga biblical
instances kung saan nagbago ang prophecy tulad ng destruction ng Nineveh na hindi naganap
dahil sa pagrepent ng mga tao. (Jonah 3:10). Cardinal Ratzinger said:
.
“That here “a MOTHER'S HAND” had DEFLECTED the fateful BULLET only shows once
more that there is NO IMMUTABLE DESTINY, that FAITH AND PRAYER are forces which
can INFLUENCE HISTORY and that in the end PRAYER is MORE POWERFUL than
BULLETS and faith more powerful than ARMIES [5] [emphasis added].”

At the end of the day, dapat tayo mas mag focus sa kung ano ang nangyayari sa present. And we
should continue to pray for the whole world na sana, matapos na ang outbreak dahil sa COVID
19.
