Objectives of the design project:

• To understand the relationship between user needs and design responses


• To adopt a systematic approach to architectural design
• To nurture a sense of scale and proportion by observing the built environment
• To encourage the incorporation of universal and sustainable design principles into
architecture

Children between the ages of 4 to 8 year.During this period, the child is vibrant and
shows a tendency to freedom and independence. He/she has no fixed position and
move as a pendulum, likes more freedom and expressing itself. During this period, the
child's curiosity increases in the period and he understands the concepts of space and
the time
Site is located at the outskirt of the city near to Bijasentekri and Airport area. The
place should be designed in such a way that it compliments surrounding and
enhance the self- sufficient activities/ sustainable approach in the village. The SOS
village campus will also be used for holding workshops and events during holidays
for rural children’s. The Primary school targets
targets both SOS children and local village
children whose parents believe that a small school will provide a better learning
environment than a typical school.
Campus not only facilitates the teaching and learning process but also makes
school life more enjoyable
joyable by extra curriculum activities.
Village development will lead to a vibrant community that can sustain, maintain &
make optimum utilization of their resources to improve their asset base, economic
condition.
SOS village can have FSP (Family strengthening
strengthening programme) which work directly
with families and communities to help effectively protect and care for their
children. The programs offered to enable parents to better care for their children
through:
• Skills training
• Small business and micro-enterprise initiatives
• Community development programs

EXERCISE – I

Design a space for kids age 4 to 8 years and 8 to 12 years. Trying to design an environment in which a
child is attached and has the quality to fulfill their emotional, mental, and physical development.

"Make sure they are safe and flourishing in a family-friendly environment “.

Positive forms of relation to a certain place in a favorable space fulfill the emotional needs of the child
and help in developing and maintaining identity.

· Read and understand the psychological behavior of kids according to the given age group

· Space design for kids with sketches related to their activities

· Your conceptual sketches should be based on the basic design principle

Submission:
· Submit A-2 sheet in PDF format for sketches

· Write a summary of how your design concept is related to child psychology with respect to
colors, shapes, textures, and architectural aspects.
