1.CONquer
Event description:
CONquer is a quiz competition that will include multiple rounds to test the knowledge of the
participants in the field of concrete technology. The various rounds will be online and the
participants will have to answer the questions in a limited time frame. Rounds may comprise
of multiple-choice questions, riddles, picture connects etc.

Team Size: Maximum of 2 participants in a team


Date of Conduction: OCTOBER 15th & 16th 2020
Rules and Regulations:
1. REGISTRATION: Rs. 50 for each member of the team
2. ELIGIBILITY: Entries open to all Civil engineering students.
3. All the members of a team should be from the same college.
4. The online platform on which various rounds will be held will be sent through email.
5. In case of 2 members in a team, both should be present at the time of conduction of
various rounds.
6. If there are any issues regarding the answer of a particular question, the decision of the
external judge will be FINAL.
7. Every participant should login with the name they have registered with in the google
form.
Judging criteria:
The teams will be judged on the basis of marks obtained in different rounds for giving
correct answers. Some rounds may have negative marking too. The winner will be
decided on the total marks obtained in all the rounds. Time taken to answer the
questions will also play an important role in deciding the winner.
A preliminary round will be conducted to select the teams for the finals. A maximum
of 6 teams will be selected for the finals.

2.CONpress (Technical Paper Presentation)


Event description:
This competition aims to bring out the research and development acumen of students across
various divisions of Civil Engineering. It must be a unique initiative either empirical or
theoretical that focuses on addressing the core aspects of our domain. An opportunity to
showcase novelty, innovation, and applications of the state-of-the-art technologies in the civil
engineering sector.
Important Dates:
Abstract Submission: 1st October 2020
Abstract Selection Results: 3rd October 2020
Full Paper Submission: 10th October 2020
Paper Selection Results: 13th October 2020
Technical Paper Presentation: 15th October 2020
Team Size: Maximum of 4 participants in a team.
Rules and Regulations:
1.The abstract should have not more than 300 words. It must be mailed to the
yathishnv.cse19@rvce.edu.in by within deadline. The subject of the Mail should be formatted
to (<Abstract: College Name: Team ID:>)
2. The selected teams, must submit the full paper must be as per ASCE format. It must to mail
to the yathishnv.cse19@rvce.edu.in within 1st of October 2020. The subject of the mail
should be formatted to (<FPS: College Name: Team ID:>) (Mention Link / Attach the copy).
3. Selected Papers will be intimated for the Technical Paper Presentation. Invite link for the
session will be mailed to the corresponding author.
4. Each team will be given stipulated time for presentation, which will be followed by a Q&A
session by the Judging Panel and fellow participants.
5. Winning Papers will be sent for peer review to biannual RVCE Journal, an ISSN publication
of the university.

3.CONflix (Movie Making)

Event description:
The Corona Virus pandemic has sparked the inner videographer in us all. Here’s a chance to
give your own recap of the pandemic. Grab your tripods, SD cards and most importantly
Camera and your masks to shoot the lockdown video that you always wanted.

Team Size: Maximum of 7 participants in a team.


Date of Submission: Before OCTOBER 10th 2020, 11:59pm.
Mode of Submission: Via Google drive link (Will be sharing through Watsapp after
registration)

Rules and Regulations:


1. Registration: Rs 200/- per team
2. Entries open for all present engineering students.
3. All the actors in the film should be from same college and should submit their College
IDs during submission of film.
4. The short film can be based on any subject/concept/theme.
5. The short film can either be in Kannada, Hindi or English. However, all films may
include sub-titles in English.
6. Duration: The total runtime of the short film, including opening and closing credits,
should strictly be a minimum of 3 min and maximum of 15 min.
7. Format: The films maybe shot in MPEG4 or AVI format.
8. All content used in the film must be either owned or copyrights to be mentioned.
9. Multiple entries from the same participant are accepted.
10. Judge’s decision will be final and binding.
11. The film must be of highest quality possible.
12. Vulgarity, obscenity and adultery will not be entertained and would lead to
disqualification.

Judging criteria:
1. Extra points will be awarded if the theme is related to civil engineering aspects or
current pandemic scenarios. The shorter the better.
2. Competition is judged on the basis of music track, audio recording, dialogue and
direction, acting and technical skills used in the film.
3. Film should be recorded abiding to the social distancing norms.

4.CONtractor
Can we COUNT on you for giving the best estimate for our building? If so, then you’re in the right
place!!

Event description:
India holds a heritage of magnificent buildings lasting through decades! Have you ever
wondered what were the materials used for their construction and how much they cost?
Concrete Fair 2020 brings you CONtractor, an event based on Estimation and Costing. It
comprises of 3 rounds of competition to test your estimation skills. The primary motive of this
event is to optimize the material usage to get the most effective estimate for the construction
of the plan provided, without compromising the serviceability of the building.
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge on:
i Estimation and Costing of structures
ii Building construction materials and planning
iii Area and volume calculation
iv Bar bending schedule

Team Size: Maximum of 2 participants in a team

ROUND 1: (ONLINE QUIZ: Total = 15 points)


No. of questions = 15 MCQs [1 point each]
Time allotted: 20 minutes
The number of teams qualifying to the next round will be decided on the day of the event

ROUND 2: (ONLINE QUIZ: 40 points)


QUESTIONS: 40% MCQs and 60% data entry
No. of questions = 15
Time allotted: 40 minutes
Points allotted for every question will be 2, 3 and 4 depending on the level of difficulty of the
questions. Top 5 groups will be selected for the Final round

ROUND 3: FINAL ROUND


A plan along with its cross-section will be given with a range of materials which can be used,
along with the Codal requirements and material description, to determine sub-structural and
super-structural units. Using the best fit material, an effective cost and estimation has to be
determined for the plan. The participants have to justify with reasons for their choice of
materials selected
Time allotted: 1 hour 30 minutes

Judgement Criteria:

2. Difficulty level of questions correctly answered

Points Distribution for ROUND 2
For every 2% error in the answer, 5% of the marks will be deducted from the maximum
marks of the question. Maximum error in every answer is limited to 10%.
Any changes in rules will be uniformly applicable to all teams

5.CON.dwg
Event description:
We truly believe in the power of a drawing to communicate and represent more than what you
see on the surface and are excited to judge an array of innovative and high-quality works.
CON.dwg is an event where participants will showcase their AUTOCAD, design and planning
skills. This is a single round event which consists of design and planning of a CONVENTION
CENTER, all of which has to be done on AutoCAD.
Team Size: Maximum of 3 participants in a team.
Date of Announcement: October 1st 2020

Date of Submission: Before OCTOBER 7th 2020, 11:59pm.


Mode of Submission: Submissions should be mailed to con.dwg2020@gmail.com
Rules and Regulations:
1. REGISTRATION: Rs. 50 (INR) for each member of the team.
2. ELIGIBILITY: Entries open for all present engineering students.
3. All the participants should be from the same college and should submit their College IDs
during the submission of the drawing.
4. The specification and requirements of the convention center will be sent to the participants
through mail provided during registration, on the date of the announcement.
5. All the drawings should be done in AutoCAD and should be saved in 2014 format before
submission.
6. A PDF copy of the drawing should be included along with the .dwg file.
7. A short description, explaining the plan and its functionality, in not more than 100 words
should be included in the pdf.
8. All the areas of the drawing should be labeled along with their dimensions.
9. Time for the completion and submission of the drawing will be 1 week from the date of
announcement.
10. The names of all the participants and the name of their respective colleges should be
mentioned in the drawing.
11. The judge’s decision will be final and binding

6.CONstorming
Event description:
CONstorming is a startup-based event filled with enthusiasm to come up with ideas and
stimulate the innovator inside us. The event will consist of 3 rounds and would be concerned
about brainstorming solutions to the problems faced in the construction and other civil-related
sectors due to the recent setbacks caused by the pandemic globally.

Event 1
Innovative ideas are to be articulated in the form of a report (following the template given by
us). The report is supposed to answer the following questions in addition to a brief point of
view of the participants:
1. What is the idea about?
2. How can it be helpful in this current scenario?
3. How can it be implemented?
Judging criteria
• How best the report addresses the problems in the construction/civil-related industry during
the time of the pandemic.
• How well the described solutions will solve current problems.
• Uniqueness in the described idea/solution.
• Check for Plagiarism.

Event 2
The idea has to be presented in front of the panel in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.
The time allotted will be 7 minutes per team. It should be a detailed description of the report.
Judging criteria
• How the solution described will bring change in the existing conventional practices of
construction.
• Feasibility study(brief) of the mentioned solution.
• How well are the chosen/included technological methodologies are described in the
solution.

Event 3
This will be the most challenging round of this event. The participating teams would be each
given a problem statement related to the event theme and would be required to ideate a solution
of the given problem in the most innovative, feasible, and efficient method they could think of.
Judging criteria-
• How the team aims to gear up new solutions for the received problem.
• The situational and economic feasibility of the solution provided.
• How creatively the team describes the solution example-Usage of visuals, clippings,
voice/video messages, handouts, etc.

Team Size: Maximum of 4 participants in a team


Rules and Regulations:
1. All teams would be asked to make a report and a presentation on their idea/solutions.
2. The report should be mailed to us, no later than on 14th of October by 6pm
3. Assessing the ideas through the reports, a few teams would be selected (the number
depending on the number of participating teams) and these teams will partake in round 2.
4. We shall announce the result of the first round by 9 am, on the day of Concrete Fair.
5. For round 2, the qualified teams will have to present their ideas in the form of PowerPoint
presentations in front of our esteemed judges, who will be present online.
6.Each team will be given a length of 7mins. The presentation will begin at 10 am and will
end at noon, at most.
7. With the help of the judges’ scores and comments/feedbacks, few teams will qualify for
the third round. The result of the 2nd round will be announced by 1 pm.
8. Thereby, teams will be given the problem statement and a period of 30mins to come up
with a solution.
9. The teams will be asked to present their solution, in front of our judges. The time allotted
would again be 7 minutes per team. Round 3 will start at 2 pm and is scheduled to end by 3 pm
at most.
10. The final results will be announced later on along with the declaration of results for other
events.
