provide a more conducive settings like their own homes.

Date, Time, and Venue:

OCTOBER 13, 2020 AT 9:30 AM IN THEIR RESPECTIVE HOMES.

PRESENTATION:

In regards to Diabetes Prevention Month, our case presents 10 individuals who are at
risk or have been diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. Each group members were
assigned with 2 clients who are either at risk or diagnosed with diabetes but resorts to a
scattered demographic data since the city has been under the “new normal” setting
which observes strict protocols like social distancing and wearing of PPE. Interview
should be done on their own home to promote social distancing. With our informed
consent, we are given the permission to conduct an interview and intervention to the
people within our inner circle which helps us to do our task in a cautious and safer way.
The group members reported that 60% of the client are at high risk of Type II diabetes
while the other 40% are diagnosed with Diabetes. The report also states that most of
the clients aren’t aware or do not know about diabetes. Some have verbalized their
understanding of Diabetes as “Kanang kusog mukaon ug chocolate kaya maka diabetic”
and “Unsa man nang blood sugar unya maka diabetic diay na?”. Client have little
information about the disorder also the pandemic sums up a harder way to come up
with an intervention plan. Some of the clients have only graduated through high school
which hindered them from their learnings about health education. Most of the clients are
at middle age and have jobs that wage below 10,000 pesos. In our case scenario
presented by our group we shall discuss on how we will inform the clients about how to
manage or prevent the complications of diabetes.

EVALUATION:

Due to the pandemic, we have come up with a way that would help our fellow clients. The pandemic has pushed us
to a brink wherein we have to observe social distancing and go into quarantine. During our assessment, we wore our
complete PPE which includes mask, gloves, and face shield. We also sterilized our equipment being used after
assessing the Client. Social distancing was also observed during the assessment and we remained cautious yet calm
during the Interview and Health Teaching. We also found a way to help the client identify if there is a rise in blood
glucose level through their own urine through benedict’s test since going to the hospital for a lab test is quite risky.
Our group has also secured an informed consent for us to legally and safely take up this assessment and health
teaching. Our group discussed through a one-on-one discussion with the leaflet given to the client and showed them
ways on how to manage for those who have been diagnosed with diabetes while we also discussed on. Prevention
with the client who are at high risk of diabetes. Gladly most of the client were participative and showed interest to
the topic. This evaluates to a success of discussing the Health teaching Plan to the Target population Group.
