Information and Communication Technology: Develops the Learning Process of the Students

By Arjie Consigna

Nowadays, ICT is rapidly develop in many of countries due to the globalization and technological
change. Moreover, the emergence of ICT has made an improvement on the education as it brings a
lot of advantages for every student. For teachers, ICT has improve their effectiveness on the
teaching process which in turn could help the student to enhance their performance in academics.
In recent years, the computers and internet has show its effectiveness and efficiency in education.
In fact, ICT has also improved the learning environment of the students. Blended learning for
example is one of the various types of learning that arise from the ICT which include Edmodo as
most commonly used.

Information and communication technology when used well improves the learning process of the
students.

ICT has play an essential role for every students in their education. Thus, as we could observe, it
enhances the existing curriculum and pedagogy for teaching and learning. At extent course, ICT
brings a lot of advantages in education. Research and experience have shown that ICTs, when used
well in classrooms, enhance the learning process where it motivates and engage students towards
effective learning. In real setting, according to Pathan et al. in 2015, students are actually motivated
when the learning activities are authentic, challenging, multidisciplinary, and multi-sensorial. He
added that by the help of ICT, students interest is easily captured which makes the learning
effective.

Moreover, Strayer (2012) indulged that ICT brings abstract concepts to life. Since teachers have a
hard time in teaching, and students have a hard time in learning, abstract concepts, particularly
when they contradict immediate intuition and common knowledge. Thus images, video
presentations, and simulations may demonstrate an abstract concept in a real manner. In addition,
ICT also foster inquiry and exploration which became the source of affective enjoyment of the
learners.

In addition, ICT allow students to use the information they acquire to solve problems, formulate
new problems, and explain the world around them. Thus, according to Tamim et al, (2011), it
provides access to worldwide information resources. At some course, ICT offer the most cost-
effective means for bringing the world into the classroom. Thus, edmodo platform for example
supply students which they can communicate with colleagues from distant places, exchange work,
develop research, and function as if there were no geographical boundaries.

Information and communication technology when used well improves the learning process of the
students. Yet, in the above discussed, it motivates and engage students in the learning process,
brings abstract concepts to life, foster inquiry and exploration, have the potential to let students
explore the world in cost-effective way, and explain the world around them, it provides access to
worldwide information resources, and offer the most cost-effective means for bringing the world
into one classroom. This just explained what the learning process will become with the integration
of ICT's. And by what have discussed, indeed ICT's provides effective learning to students.
