1.0 INTRODUCTION
Under the scope of work for Projek Pembaikan Cerun Dan Kerja – Kerja Berkaitan di
Sekolah Kebangsaan Kauluan Ranau,Sabah Concreting work for Shear Wall and its
associated works need to be carried out.
2.0 OBJECTIVE
Shear wall is a vertical structural element used to resist the horizontal forces such as
wind force, seismic force. These forces acts parallel to the plane of the wall. Shear
walls are generally used in high rise buildings where effect of wind forces and
seismic forces is more.
a) Setting Out shall be carried out based on reference points on site by survey or
shown in the drawings.
b) Timber pegs or others will be used to set out RC Slab and RC Wall positions as
per drawing.
a) All reinforcement T12 and BRC A10 for the works shall be approved by
Engineer. Material approval from SESB to be obtained prior to delivery to the
project site.
b) The reinforcement shall be cut, bent and fixed according to the construction
drawing by an experienced supervisor or bar-bender.
d) Once fabrication and fixing work of reinforcement bar completed, final joint
inspection between SESB Representative and Contractor to be arranged
prior to commencement of concreting work.

a) In case of openings to improve the efficiency of shear wall, connect the piers of
shear walls by spandrels. Pier is nothing but the portion of shear wall between
two openings and spandrel is the portion of shear wall above the opening. The

a) Trial Mix for Concrete Grade 25 and Grade 30 shall be carried out witnessed
by SESB representative and Contractor prior to commencement of
concreting work.
b) The concrete casting sequence is such that cold joints are to be avoided.
d) Slump test to check the workability of the concrete shall be carried out on site.
Refer Design Mix of Concrete Grade15, Grade 25 and Grade 30 attached.
e) Six (6) nos. of cube sample (150mm x 150mm x 150mm) shall be collected for
the batch of Concrete G25 or G30 on each day. These cube samples shall be
tested for 7 days (3 nos) and 28 day (3 nos) at an Independent Laboratory.
The quality assurance & control requirements shall be in accordance with this method
statement. In carrying this works the following documents & forms and procedures shall
be implemented before commencement of work;

9.0 REFERENCES
The work is carried out in accordance to the following: -
