Week 3

Reflection

 What would you consider the three most important facts about Pakistan's
Ancient History? List them in order of importance and briefly explain why they
are important.

The Indus River – because it has existed since 3000 – 1900 B.C. that provided water
for people that caused cities to form.

The Different Cultures – the different religious and social practices that intertwined into
the hearts of the Indian people throughout the history of the people and made them who
they are.

British India – They were able to unite India an bring in more modern government that I
believe taught them to realize that they could do it on their own.

 How would Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh be different today if they had
never been part of the British Empire?

It’s hard to say but I would imagine with all the Muslim people that live in Pakistan,
India, and Bangladesh it would have eventually formed into an Islamic republic with a
president like Afghanistan. Or maybe a socialist republic like China. Maybe they would
have become part of an Islam or Asian country.

 What connections did you make this week between the ancient history of
Pakistan and the Partition of Pakistan and India? How are they related? Why is
this important?

I don’t know what I am talking about, but I will give it a try. Through the history of
Pakistan and India and the different cultures that have been intertwined for thousands of
years with these people it seems like the different cultures and rulings had to take place
to prepare the Hindus and Muslims to live by a democracy government.

 Think back to this week's case study, topic presentation, and choose your
position discussion boards. Which idea made the biggest impact on you?
Paraphrase the idea and share how it improved your comprehension of this
week's materials.

From reading the history and from what very little I was able to understand I would say
that the British rule was a good thing for the country because the British helped unite
the country and the monarchy government prepared taught them many new modern
ways to live that lead them to have desires to run their own country and form a
democracy government.

 What resources did you read/watch for the Digging Deeper assignment this
week? Explain the most interesting thing you learned from them?

The most interesting thing for me this week was how India & Pakistan is one of the
oldest places where people have lived on the earth. It is amazing to me how old the
Indus River has lasted as well and the different people and cultures that have lived
there. In the “Digging Deeper” I enjoyed looking at all the maps especially Alexander
the Great map and all that he conquered and ruled. I also read the “British Raj in India”
and “Trouble in the Other Middle East.” From these I learned a lot more about British
Ruling and the positive and negative effects on India.
