Learning activity 4

Evidence: Consolidation activity

Stage 1: The person I admire the most

A. What to do?

Write a biography of the person you admire the most. This person can be, for
example, a public figure, a celebrity, a politician, a world leader or someone
close to you, a relative.

Note: The person you choose cannot be the same chosen for Evidence 3
of this learning activity.

B. How to do it?

You need to carry out some research in order to collect the necessary
information for writing the biography. If the person chosen is a public figure,
you can surf the web in order to get the details you are going to include. On
the contrary, if the person chose is someone you know personally, you can set
up an interview in order to ask the person the questions you may have about
his / her life.

Here is an outline we suggest following for writing the biography. We have

chosen Charles Darwin (public figure), an influential scientist of the
nineteenth century, as example for the outline.

Suggested outline
1. Early life and education.
2. Voyage of the Beagle.
3. Darwin's evolutionary theory.
4. Overwork, illness, and marriage.
5. Natural selection.
6. Geology books, barnacles, evolutionary research.
7. Publication of the theory of natural selection.
8. Responses to publication.
9. Descent of man, sexual selection, and botany.
10. Death and funeral.
Stage 2: My admiration for…

A. What to do?

In this section, you will record a tape or video in which you orally present the
person you chose in Section 1. For this part of the evidence you need to
present the biography as well as explain and illustrate the reasons why you

Michelle Ribinson Obama became first Lady of the

UnitedStates on January 20th 2009
just three days after her 45th bithday on that historic
inauguration day. Michelle’s Barack Obama took the oath to
oficce pledging to lead the nation into a new birth of freedom
by his side stood Michelle,
smart ensure Michelle proud wife and mother loving daughter
sister and friend and ordinary girl who grew up to do
extraordinary things. This is her story.

Michelle was born in the heart of winter on the south side of

Chicago,
chicago can be a cold windy place but Michelle’s parents Frazier
and Marion made a warm and loving home for their baby and her
big brother Craig .

Craig Frazier Robinson was proud that his job operting pumps at
the city water plant could support his familY.

Michelle knew how hard her dad worked and looked up to him
from since the time she was little even after she got big.

Michelle loved to sit on is lap resting her head on his shoulder .

Marian Robinson believed in education and thaught Craig and

Michelle to read by the time they were four since homework
came first she was strct about televicion just an hour a day but
Michelle still managed to memorize whole epidoded of her
favorite shoe.
Michelle leraned courage, she wathed him go to work cheerfully
each day even afther he developed multiple sclerosis a disease
that made it hard for him to walk. From her mother Michell
learned to ask questions to thinck, her mom taught her to
believe in herself to learn from her mistakes to follow her heart
and to get things done, from bothparents Micgelle learned to
dream big.
Michell’s payrents hadn’t been to college but thet wanted their
children to have that chance saving for education came firsy
even if it meant. They lived simply in a one-bedroom apartment
on Euclid avenue. They divided the living room to make sepaate
spaces for Michelle and craig .

she learned to beat him at games! Michelle took many family

lessons to heart and as a student became an achiever. She was a
gifted student and "aimed high." She was accepted at Princeton
and later at Harvard Law. When she finished school, she
returned home and got a job as a lawyer. It was when she met a
man with an unusual name, Barack Obama, that her life really
began to change. There was something about him . . .
This is
a well written biography of Michelle Obama that nicely
emphasizes the importance of family in her life. It easily
condenses her life story with the emphasis on things that were
most important to her, namely family, community service and
education. The artwork is excellent and so realistic that I
thought the cover portrait was a photograph. There are many
biographies of the Obama family cropping up, but I especially
liked this one because it seems to capture the essence of who
Michelle is. In the back of the book is an author's note with
additional information about Michelle's life. This is a lovely
portrait of America's first African American Lady you might
want to consider for your home or library collection.

Barack Obama political campaigns.

Early campaigns
During an interview in 1996, Michelle Obama acknowledged
there was a "strong possibility" her husband would begin a
political career, but said she was "wary" of the process. She
knew it meant their lives would be subject to scrutiny and she
was intensely private

Beginning in 2011, Obama became more politically active than
she had been since the 2008 election, though avoided
discussions about the re-election bid. By the time of the
election cycle, she had developed a more open public image.
