Chapter IV

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary

The purpose of this study is to know the level of knowledge and acceptance of the

Senior High students, particularly the Grade 11, on condom distribution topic. This study

uses the qualitative research approach that pertains to how is the connection and why is the

students’ level of perceptions vary to their ways of acceptance.

In fact, it applies the descriptive type of qualitative research design which urges the

researchers to use simple random sampling in gathering data refers to the students

personality test that weigh their awareness on condom use and effectiveness. Perhaps, this

study explains how students could reach the level of their awareness and or perception

regarding with the effect (advantages and disadvantages) of using condoms along with the

cases of early pregnancy, HIV/AIDS infection and even other STD’s the data that are being

garnered are computed in the chapter three of this qualitative study is justified by the use of

Microsoft Excel in getting the means and even the intervals.

All in all, it is expected to see the difference of the researchers hypothesis and the

actual yield of the target respondents’ personal answers through the distributed

questionnaires. Nevertheless, encouragement and warnings are truly the key points in letting

their notions and prides move which can detailed seen in the conclusion and

recommendation on the search study.

Conclusion

Through the use of questionnaires, the level of acceptance of the Grade 11 students

in terms of the first time free dissemination of condoms in DEGMNHS, students level of

56
knowledge along with the early pregnancy, HIV infection and dissemination of condoms as

well as to the level of knowledge of the students on the advantages and disadvantages of

condom dissemination and even with the IEC with regards to students’ perception on early

pregnancy and HIV infection has been honed.

Based on the research findings of this study, these are the researchers own

conclusions and discoveries:

1. With regards to the Grade 11 students’ level of acceptance on condom

distribution, learners have totally accepted the statements that are placed in the

questionnaires which implies that they are totally knowledgeable enough with some of the

factors affecting their acceptance on condom dissemination topic. As well to their level of

knowledge in terms of the dissemination of condoms and its advantages and disadvantages

to their lives. Meaning, they are not aware with the way their environment appears.

2. Students are not that 100% well-versed to their level of knowledge about

condoms’ effectiveness on early pregnancy and HIV infection though they have slightly

perception of both occurrences, it is still not clear tot hem the way these topic exist.

Therefore, as a result to their answers, they are not totally on the pro side nor on the anti

side. It only signifies that their disagreement are means of clarifying things that their studies

are their priority and that, these kinds of topic that have been inserted were just a test on how

solid are their faith as Christians.

3. Although students have accepted the dissemination of condoms, it is still a

questionable issue on parents in letting their children out of fear that will push them to

engage in sex before they are ready. Hence, the last resort always fall on parents which

usually serves as a burden too to their family living. Students have not yet reached their

57
maturity and that, their future might be ruined because of curiosity.

4. Due to the what is being observed, students have stacked only to one side,

therefore, the very essential part of knowing the factors of condom dissemination is being

neglected. Through this, students have shown uncertainties. Instead of focusing to the lust

saturated world, they used to focus on their studies.

5. Curiosity is still present and is a current issue in some learners’ intellect with

regards to the life or effectiveness of condom to users, especially in avoiding cases of early

pregnancy, STD’s such as HIV/AIDS infection and even to the studies of the students. And

because there is a lack of reminders to students about the traumatic effects of sexual acts,

including the use of condoms, perhaps, it is a barrier to students that there is no certain time

of regulating programs regarding with the issue of early pregnancy and Sexually

Transmitted Diseases (STD’s).

6. Though learners are already considered “seniors” or teens, some of them are still

innocent to such possible effects of the dissemination of condoms. As a result to what is

being observed, it is then to conclude that concentrating only with one angle cannot actually

solve a whole problem.

7. There is a certainty that because students have agreed that through using condoms,

unwanted pregnancies or STD’s possibly be cured, it does not mean that they wanted

condoms to be distributed directly to them. It is just a remark that with this kind of

information, preventing themselves from committing such acts will ensure them better

future.

8. There are still misconceptions on matters regarding causes of early pregnancy,

HIV infection, AIDS and other STD’s or STI’s underlying condom dissemination topic.

58
Beliefs, norms and other things that influence the way a community thinks are still on the

process of disturbing and exemplifying.

9. Religion is also considered as a factor why our country, including the target

respondents of this research study, oppose the dissemination of condoms in schools. As a

result, religion can truly influence the response of learners to such school’s issue.

10. Parents are the ones that mostly suffer due to such unintended acts that teens

usually - mistakenly done, as what is being observed from the following statements’ main

clarification. Wherefore as the biggest state or responsibility was being thrown to family

especially to parents, they are now the ones considered as motivator for each learner to

become more wise and careful with their deeds.

11. Intervention materials are still considered poor in schools which made learners

not totally informed about the burdens that the advantages and disadvantages of condom

dissemination through early pregnancy, HIV infection and other STD’s might occur.

Recommendation

In our country, condom dissemination has been a questionable issue since we know

that we are in a religious state, nevertheless this topic on condom urge the researchers to

discover the voice’s level of the learners in terms of their knowledge and acceptance.

Perhaps due to the results that have been garnered, it is now therefore for the learners to

produce the product they have planned before the distribution of questionnaires.

In fact, DEGMNHS is of definitely a prone of Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD’s)

issue that include HIV/AIDS infection. The case on early pregnancy was an issue before but

not now; it is not a huge variation topic nowadays in school. These essential matters have

gone astray which help in declining hurdles that may possibly occur to the student lives in

59
the future.

The following are the recommendations for those individuals:

1. The school should strive in conducting symposiums or seminars to students,

teachers and parents during PTA meetings regarding with the condom dissemination topic in

accordance with the effectiveness of condom to early pregnancy, HIV/AIDS infection and

even condoms’ advantages and disadvantages.

2. Distinct activities such as sports, workshops, Ministry (Bible Study, Fellowship,

Bible Quiz Bee, Amazing Race), and other educational activities should be included in the

list of the school events.

3. Teachers must be obliged to warn their students by including to their class

performances the what, how and why is there a need to avoid engaging oneself to those

unintended acts. Such as letting them watch a true-to-life related stories and presenting to

them the hurdles of after involving into situations like these.

4. The students’ council, Supreme Students Government (SSG), should urge the

youth (students) that aside of learning from their lessons they should also join school

activities such as joining Red Cross, attending symposiums and seminars specifically with

the involving warnings for learners about their sexuality which are expected to be organized

by the joined forces of DepEd and DOH.

5. Learners should not only depend on their own perceptions. They should ask or

consult the help of the experts.

6. Parents must be obliged to always give stern advises to their children in order to

avoid unintended acts.

7. This research study’s content and purpose must be familiarized by the students so

60
that their uncertainties and curiosities will be answered, and that, they may gain basic

knowledge from it.

8. This research study’s product (brochure) as an Information Education Campaign

(IEC) material must be disseminated to learners as early as possible in accordance with the

proper implementation of programs also.
