Example 1: Lingang (So Far) : 1.4 Examples of Project Implemented Elsewhere (Aiman)
By 2020, Lingang is hoping to implement several hydrogen filling stations by 2022 [1]. This will create
a low carbon transport infrastructure. Furthermore, a novel hydrogen fuel bus route next year is
being introduced in 2021. In the same year, refuelling facilities will become accessible for 200 light
trucks and 20 heavy-duty trucks [1]. This transition are the first steps which can soon evolve into
residential buildings.
Partnership between Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shenergy Group and Lingang Group to build a
hydrogen industrial park or a “hydrogen and fuel cell-related ecosystem” [2].
Energy type Fuel cells. “Integrates hydrogen production & filling, core fuel cell stack,
system integration, pilot operation” [2]
Investment RMB 10 billion [2]
Status Yet to be built
Capacity Unknown
The new district of Lingang will be equipped with photovoltaic, wind power and other renewable
energy for hydrogen production, liquid hydrogen storage and hydrogen filling, civil hydrogen
pipelines and hydrogen refuelling station construction projects. [3] The “Three-Year Action Plan”
proposes that the new area will explore typical hydrogen energy application scenarios such as
hydrogen energy transportation and logistics, distributed hydrogen energy supply, and hydrogen
energy buildings [3].
