 Event Center in Asingan,Pangasinan

INTRODUCTION

This chapter presents the introduction of the research proposal. It

inclusively discusses the following components of study: background and rationale,
statement of the problem, research objectives, hypothesis, significance of the study and
scope and delimitations.

1.1 BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

A convention is not simply a space for looking at or listening to

a performance. A successful convention for live performance supports the emotional
exchange between the performer and the audience, and between members of
audience. Thus conventions are usually general sessions, mostly information giving,
often formed around a particular theme or subject matter of topic interest and
increasingly accompanied by exhibits. In addition to need for large halls & auditoriums
required for the plenary sessions, most conventions break down into smaller groups to
deliberate on particular matter of issue.A convention center is generally defined as any
property used in connection with a convention or meeting center, or similar facility,
including auditoriums, exhibition halls, facilities for food preparation and serving,
parking facilities, and administrative offices. A number of states have passed legislation
enabling public funding to be used for convention centers in an effort to attract tourism
and businesses to the local economy.

Exhibition and exposition are the public displays of industrial or commercial

products or of fine arts. Although the terms are used interchangeably, in strict usage an
exhibition is a display of such products or arts for a short period; an exposition is for a

longer period and usually on a larger scale. Both exhibitions and expositions may be
regional, national, or international, and may show only the products of a single industry,
such as furniture or leather, or all products of human endeavor. It  is
a  s m ar t  buil di ng, adaptable to the most advanced technology and has been
designed to provide excellent conferencing and exhibition facilities and services. It is
a consolidate space, where people come together to interact, to learn and to
exchange new ideas. Therefore, the faciliti es provided at the exhibition centre
should suitable with the user requirement.

Considering the aforementioned, a study which sought to design a Event

Center of Asingan. Consequently, it is hoped that the proposed project would be the
Event Center of Eastern part of Pangasinan in the municipality of Asingan.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study sought to design The Event Center in Asingan, Pangasinan.

Specifically, this study answered the following specific problems:

1.2.1 What would the Event Center in Asingan exhibit products and other
associated activities.

1.2.2 How did Event Center in Asingan promote and support different fairs
and exhibitions of the market.

1.2.3 What makes the Event Center in Asingan a landmark.

12.4 What are the architectural design considerations, guidelines and

standards used in designing the Event Center in Asingan.

1.3. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

In general, the research study aimed to design a Event Center in Asingan,

Pangasinan.

Specifically, the study attempted to achieve the following specific objectives:

1.3.1 To provide a perfect exhibition complex to exhibit the wide range of

 Event Center in Asingan,Pangasinan

products and other associated activities.

1.3.2 To promote and support the different fairs and exhibitions of the market
of the import and export regarding local business.

1.3.3 To design a center which will act as a landmark.

1.3.4 To determine the architectural design considerations, guidelines and

standards in designing a Event Center.

1.4 HYPOTHESIS

The researcher is certain that this study aims to investigate how

conventions and exhibitions attract exhibitors and the effects of exhibition attendance
on business performance. Thus, it is ideal and effective to have a Event Center in
Asingan.

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The output of this study will be beneficial to the following sectors:

1.5.1 TO THE PEOPLE

- This study will encourages the exhibitors from neighboring provinces and
provides cultural exchange from exhibitors and public.

- This study takes the public to the right event venue and location to excite

and motivate people to attend an event.

1.5.2 TO THE GOVERNMENT

- This study will be likewise helpful to the Municipality of Asingan to attract

exhibitors.

- It will provide new job opportunities in the Municipality of Asingan as well

as to its neighbouring provinces.

1.5.3 TO THE FIELD OF ARCHITECTURE

- This study will serve as a basis on architectural researches that have a focal
point on the design of Event Center.

1.6 SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

1.6.1 ARCHITECTURAL THESIS ARGUMENT

This study covered the importance of Event Center to the public.

In similar manner, it assessed the effectiveness Event Center.

1.6.2 ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

This study focused on the design considerations, guidelines as

well as the standard requirements of the Event Center and other prominent
related codes.
