The Opportunity
The Meditation Center at THEARC, a program of the David Lynch Foundation, a national 501(c)3 with offices in
NYC, Los Angeles, and Washington DC) is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join its growing team. Based in
South East Washington, DC at the Town Hall Education and Recreation Campus (THEARC), The Meditation
Center is dedicated to preventing and eliminating the epidemic of toxic stress and trauma by offering courses in
the easy-to-learn, evidence-based Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. See

We are seeking an energetic, tech savvy, multitasker with excellent computer capabilities and good phone,
communication and organizational skills. The Administrative Assistant will provide a high level of administrative
and programmatic support to The Meditation Center at THEARC and must be personable, organized and
proficient with social media This is a part-time (30 hours a week) position that requires a person to be in the office
5 days a week (once Covid restrictions are lifted).

Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have an affinity for, or familiarity/connection with, the
Wards 7 and 8 community and who have a resonance with the importance of wellness and helping others.
Programmatic
● Assist with tasks related to the planning and delivery of The Meditation Center (TMC) programs and
events such as retreats and other virtual and in person events. Provide ”day-of” support for special events
and courses.
● Plan and coordinate all aspects of monthly events for the community of meditators.
● Coordinate all aspects of tabling and information dissemination at community outreach events held at
THEARC, health fairs, conferences, local events, etc.
● Work closely with TM teachers to conduct follow-up with organizations interested in launching TM projects
and/or courses, and with individuals interested in learning TM.
● Provide in-person front desk and safety protocol support (for COVID) for our in-person Meditation
instructions in DC.
● Maintain and update TMC mailing lists including key community leaders, local donors, THEARC partners
● and others.
● Contribute to preparation of monthly Newsletter and content for the social media platforms for TMC.
● Other duties as assigned by the Regional Director and the TMC team.
Administrative
● Support Regional Director, and the TMC team, with all schedule and other administrative and technology
needs.
● Be a daily presence in the office, greeting people who come for Intro Talks, TM Courses and meetings, as
well as taking phone calls. (While we are still work from home, the TMC phone line will be connected to a
designated cell phone.)
● Maintain the system to enter all data for attendees of instructions, events and social media numbers into
Google sheets.
● Provide support to TM teachers by preparing forms and/or information packets for Intro Talks and TM
courses and ensuring survey forms and student data are completed and entered.
● Using the AppToto system, oversee system for scheduling people for Intro Talks, TM courses, Group
Meditations and Retreats.
● Order office and teaching supplies, monitor deliveries and mail.
● Maintain office and meditation rooms and act as liaison with THEARC staff.
● Support team with all meeting scheduling/Zoom scheduling needs.
● Participate in weekly TMC Team meetings and other meetings as needed. Take all meeting minutes and
send to attendees
● Keep Google drive updated and organized.
● Administrative/tech support.
