Position Summary

Search for Common Ground Myanmar is seeking a proactive, dynamic and experienced
Project Officer, with a Youth, Peace & Security background, to support in implementing an
exciting youth and peace -focused project in Myanmar. The Project Officer will support
Project Manager to ensure the high quality program implementation, and maintain strong
relations with key youth stakeholders and partners. Reporting to the Project Manager, this
position is based in Yangon, Myanmar with regular travel.

The Project Officer is responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of
project objectives with creativity and diligence. Project activities include mapping and
consultations, workshops and training, dialogues, and liaising between key stakeholders.
S/he provides all financial, logistical, programmatic and partnership-related, and
communication support to ensure the high quality of project implementation. This position
will work closely with, and reports to, the Project Manager.

destructive approaches towards cooperative solutions. With more than 800 committed staff
worldwide, Search implements projects in more than 35 countries across the globe.

In Myanmar, Search's has been working since 2014 to support locally-led processes at
different levels of society in order to transform approaches to dealing with conflict. Search
Myanmar has been supporting an inclusive peacebuilding at the local level, and skills building
and trust-building with and between a multitude of stakeholders, the private sector, the
media, and civil society including women, youth and minorities. Search Myanmar works with
local partners across six states and three regions to support Myanmar in its priorities of
peace, development and democratic change.

Search Myanmar is at an exciting stage and has been trying to reach a new level of growth,
scaling up its programmatic work, team, office and operations to support its strategy in-
country to support Myanmar in its priorities of peace, development and democratic change.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide adequate support to the Project Manager
● Coordinates and supports the project implementation in accordance with the
organization’s compliances by working with program, finance, operation, and DM&E
departments
● Develop and maintain strong relationship with key young leaders and project
stakeholders

Contributions
● Assistant Project Manager in project planning, budgeting, and preparing narrative &
financial reports, including drafting detailed work plans.
● Support Project Manager with the implementation of YPS stakeholder mapping,
capacity building/training, consultation workshops, and dialogue sessions, ensuring
alignment to project objectives.
● Actively contribute to project implementation, including project planning and
strengthening networks with key partners and stakeholders.
● Coordinate and work closely with young women and men leaders to implement
initiatives that promote meaningful participation in related decision-making
processes.
● Develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with all stakeholders including
non-governmental organizations, civil society partners, and youth stakeholders.
● Provide up to date information on Myanmar peace process dynamics, collect
information related to youth participation in peacebuilding process, and weekly
peace reviews (from the news)
● Provide update information and supporting documents to ensure regular reflection
on project planning and implementation with team and external stakeholders
● Provide feedbacks to Project Manager regarding the project implementation and
networking
● Prepare necessary documents for project-related meetings, attend the meetings and
minutes taking
● Work closely with the Operations team to ensure smooth project operations
● Responsible for documentation and record-keeping for all the project activities
● Prepare Travel requests and travel reports.
● Tracking the project timeline and work plan, and making sure all the deadlines are
met
● Work closely with DM&E team to ensure all project indicators are completed
● Perform any other tasks regarding improvement of project activities assigned by the
project manager as necessary
● Represent Search Myanmar and the project in coordination, advocacy and
information sharing efforts
● Adhere to Search’s Common Ground Approach values in everyday work

Essential Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social science, arts, peace and conflict studies,
management, or other related fields.
● At least 3 years proven experience project implementation and networking with wide
range of stakeholders
● Previous experience of working on projects with a youth and peacebuilding
background
● Strong understanding of the Youth, Peace and Security sector, particularly dynamics
of youth inclusion and participation in peace processes
● Experience in building strong relationships across diverse stakeholders including
government, Ethnic Armed Organizations, authorities and civil society organizations
especially youth-led
● Strong leadership and coordination skills with excellent motivation and team building
skills
● Understanding and experience of negotiation and finding collaborative solutions to
diverse or conflicting perspectives with individuals from different backgrounds
● A high level of personal efficiency, motivation and ability to balance multiple urgent
or important tasks
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
● Excellent written and verbal Burmese communication skills
● Excellent in using Microsoft office tools
Desirable
● Proficiency of English language; knowledge of other ethnic languages desirable
● Experience and/or strong knowledge of Myanmar peace process dynamics, including
actors and key issues
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
● Usual office environment conditions; Remote working, based in Yangon Office.
