Detective Work

Objective: Students will use iPads to answer questions about the songs ​America (My Country Tis
of Thee) ​and ​You’re a Grand Old Flag

Intro: Hello everyone! Last time we were together we talked about patriotic songs and what
events they would be sung at!

Activity 1
Today we are going to use our iPads to be detectives. I’m going to put up QR codes for each
song that will take you to Quaver Music. You’ll then click on the different exhibits and use your
best detective work to find the answers to the worksheet that you grabbed as you walked into the
classroom.

● Have students grab iPads and scan the QR codes that are posted on the tv in the room.
● Give them time to complete the worksheet
● Guide students to the correct exhibit if they have trouble finding an answer

Once students are done, have them share what answers they found for each question.

● So can someone raise their hand and give me one of the answers they put down for
question 1?
○ Have students answer
■ Repeat process for each question in each song.
● Students can correct their answers if needed.
