Witness: It's not a get rich scheme you do it because you love the ocean and
you love the art of building surfboards
Reporter: Kelly also made boards for his friends like Kyle Pittsburgh
Kelly’s friend: you really want to make it work for you and if it didn't work
he wasn't satisfied so that was kind of neat
Reporter: Pittsburgh says that customizing surf boards was kelly's passion
but it wasn't is only purpose.
Kelly’s friend: More tan anything to do with surfing I thinking, you wanted
his like to reflect Jesus in the way he treated people
Reporter: And local surfers that between his handiwork anticipate kelly
leaves behind a gaping hole in the community
Witness: We've had bites but, we've never had such tragedy
Reporter: Kelly's friends say that he also leaves behind a wife
Kelly’s friend: And a our hearts break for Katie.
Reporter: The owner of santa cruz boardroom also told me that he'll be
releasing details on a fundraiser for kelly's family soon in santa cruz county
