UMTS-WCDMA Radio Access Network Planning Project

An operator is seeking for UMTS-WCDMA radio access network planner for the following
network deployment area in Addis Ababa: 7000 x 8000 m2. You are required to come up with a
network plan which gives smaller cost-performance ratio or higher performance (in basic KPIs)
and lower deployment cost satisfying other requirements.

Requirements:
1. Coverage target:
 Coverage threshold: -84dBm
 Coverage Probability: 93%
2. Capacity target:
 Assume both speech and data users
 Use any additional information from assignment 2.
3. Bandwidth = 5MHz; carrier frequency =2100MHz
4. Demonstrate all the required product survey for UMTS-WCDMA network and link
budget results
5. Use different planning tools where you need them
6. Deployment Costs
 Site cost = $30,000
 Transmitter/cell cost = $10,000
