and earn 20rupees and 2rs as a reward of their hard work.
Objective
Prime objective of this movie review is to deeply analyze the caste system, poverty prevails in
india and atrocities faced by the villagers in the name of culture ,religious believes and caste
system,it also focus on how a poor class of community is dominated by the rich peasants and
landlords and how their rights were ignored by the rich landlords despite the fact that rights were
conferred to them by the government itself.

Detailing of the plot-

Paar is the most authenticated movie which depicts the lifestyle of poor and their fighting sprit
without a show of vulgarity, profligate attire and scenes.this movie is a stark example for the
producer’s that how a movie can be made with no artificiality,no fiction,no sci-fi just with a
human observation of society.this movie .
Film begin with a dialogue were naurangia says"kerosene
Ni Amrit ho gya" this demonstrates the poor state of the villagers and how such an petty thing
like kerosine is so costly for them. The epic center of the issue of the villagers is low wages
which were given to them by the landlord (Utpal Dutt) so all villagers approached to masterji
(Anil Chatterjee) and choose him as their representative to pass on their request before the
landowner.masterji was a gandhian and he belives in non violence he thinks that “hinsa hinsa ko
hi janam dete hai’’.every matter can be sort out with talks not with violence.with this ideology
masterji went to the house of landlord and when masterji tried to put the demand of poor
peasants he was advised by the hari Singh (brother of the landlord) not to indulge in this matter
as mastery is a pandit and peasants belong to lower class and then humiliated mastery and ask
him to leave.infuriated by this, the villagers decided to rebel against the landlord by not going
into the fields. In the very next scene they were defeated by the ram naresh in the village
election.baffled by the defeat hari singh men killed masterji.and this is the turning point of the
story. To seek the revenge of masterji’s death Naurangia with his fellow mates killed hari
singh.death of hari singh created a destruction environment in the village now because it was the
turn of landlord to take revenge of his brother’s death.
As aspected landlord with his men attacked the village at night
all villagers flee to local temple to take shelter, this shows the religious believes of the villagers
they thought “kali mata” will protect them but even their goddess failed in her duty. This
incident forces an impoverished couple to escape to Calcutta where they can hopefully find
work. But eventully the couple failed to procure any job in the big city. Their struggle mirrors the
harsh reality of the streetlife that most villagers experience when they're looking to make a life in the
big busy city (with no connection to anyone).

There is a scene in which the jubilation of the youth of 1983 when

India won the Cricket World Cup is put. This shows the stark realities of our society which indeed is
effective even today in some parts of the nation .there is another scene in which Naurangi (Naseeruddin
Shah) is offered a few rupees and when he denies it saying, "Aap kuch bhi kaam de do mujhe, jhaadu
pocha ya kuch bhi" shows that even poor has their self respect and despite failing in his all effort to earn
bread for him and for his four month pregnant wife he refuses the money because he didn’t want to see
himself as begger.

Finally he gets an undertaking to win enough cash to feed his wife and backpedal to his village. but the
task was not an easy one. He is excited, but also cautious. This proves to be a dangerous challenge that
involves his four-month pregnant wife, but he sees this as the only way out now and they'll both just
have to succeed in this task to survive. He has to drive a herd of 36 pigs across the river and with his self
determination, he finally succeeded. in the last scene the couple were in a dilemma whether their child
is still alive or dead and Naurangi confirm that their child is still alive.
