TITLE: Unit 13: What is the weather like?
In this lesson students will be introduced to describing the weather in English. They will practice
vocabulary weather with a variety of games and activities. They will listen to weather sounds,
they will read and then describe the weather in different common countries including their own
using simple sentences like: In my country it is wet and windy in October. What’s the weather
like in your country?, They will learn new vocabulary items and also do some exercises and
finally they will listen to the Weather song and try to sing it themselves.

Context: Introducing the topic of the lesson;

Organization: T greets her students, checks the homework and then she asks the Ss to close
their eyes and listen to what they hear very carefully. T will put the youtube video weather
sounds one after another. After listening to each sound they have to write down in their
notebooks one word to describe what they have heard. Ss obey. T introduces the topic of the
lesson and writes on the blackboard the title: What is the weather like? The next step is to ask the
Ss to read the lesson from the book and translate the sentences. Then Ss will be asked to copy in
their notebook the months of the year.
Possible problems: Some of them may have incorrect pronunciation when reading , teacher will
prompt and help them..
Time: 10’

ACTIVITY 3:.reading the text from page 67,exercises 2 and 3 , pupil’s book
Context: recycling the months of the year and practice the new vocabulary items which help
them to describe the weather in specific months of the year.
Organization: T asks the Ss to read the text from the book and translate into Romanian.. The
next step is to solve exercise 2 on the book and then exercise 3 in their notebooks filling in the
gaps with the missing information.
Possible problems:. Some Ss may write slowly than others.
Time: 7’

ACTIVITY 4: Worksheet: match the words and pictures, then write the words.
Context: practice vocabulary and spelling skills.
Organization: .T invites Ss to solve the 2 exercises after she spreads the worksheets . Students
obey and solve the exercises then T corrects them with the whole class.
Possible problems: Some Ss may not finish on time
Time: 5’

Context: practice spelling skills and recycle the months of the year.
Organization: T invites Ss to go to the Smart Blackboard and solve the crossword puzzle ; one
student at a time.
Possible problems: Some Ss may type slowly or they don’t know the spelling of the word they
have to type in.

Context: practice listening skills and reading skills
Organization: T will search the song on the Smart Blackboard and make sure the volume for
speakers is appropriate and play the song. Ss listen to the song once then T will ask them to sing
along when the song will be played the second time.
Possible problems: Some Ss are slow readers .
