Start the class by presenting a riddle.

LEARNING PROCEDURE

Day 1

Start the class by telling the students that to become effective readers, they should know first the strategies
and techniques used to aid them in reading efficiently. Teach the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and
Review) sequence. (page 124) Briefly discuss how each step in the reading process can help them become
better reader.

2. What did each tribe learn from Lumawig?

Day 1
Tell the students that the focus on this day is on grammar. Review that they had learned about the building
blocks of language. Discuss that they are now going to review the basic rules of sentence writing.

Ask the students to read the letter written by Jose Rizal to his family. Point out how the letter is a good
example of well-written sentences.

Ask the students to point out the subjects and predicates of the given sentences.
Discuss the rules of subject and predicate. (Pages 92-93)
