Statement of the Problem

The main objective of the study is to build a device that can work by itself in collecting wastes and

recognizing what type of waste will be collected in order for it to separate based on its type.

The following will be answered after the construction of the device and experimentations.

1. How accurate is the device’s sensor in recognizing different types of waste?

2. How functional is the device’s arm in collecting wastes?

3. How functional it will be for the device to work by itself in collecting and sorting different

types of waste?

4. Is the Arduino-based Trash Bin: An Autonomous Garbage Collector and Sorter

performing its tasks in terms of:

a. Functionality

b. Maintainability

c. Usability

d. Efficiency

e. Portability

C. Hypotheses

Null Hypotheses (H0):

The researchers hypothesized that:

a. Ho: The accuracy of the device’s sensor in recognizing different types of waste will be 0%.

b. Ho: The function of the device’s arm in collecting wastes will be 0%.

c. Ho: The function of the device on working by itself in collecting and sorting different types of

waste will be 0%.

d. When evaluated by the users, the average mean and interpretation regarding the

characteristics of the Arduino-based Trash Bin: An Autonomous Garbage Collector and

Sorter for each of the following criteria are not as follows:

b. H1: The function of the device’s arm in collecting wastes will be 100%.

c. H1: The function of the device on working by itself in collecting and sorting different types of

waste will be 100%.

d. When evaluated by the users, the average mean and interpretation regarding the

characteristics of the Arduino-based Trash Bin: An Autonomous Garbage Collector and

Sorter for each of the following criteria are as follows:
