I am a recent Alma College graduate. During my time at Alma, I participated in numerous

music ensembles including choir, percussion ensemble, and marching and concert band.
Music became a large part of who I am while I learned how to teach it. After my student
teaching experience, I would like to continue my musical experiences by searching for a job
in elementary general music.

An inclusive and supportive school environment is the type of teaching community that I
would be proud to be a part of. Having a support system of educators who work together for
the benefit of their students is incredibly important. In regards to my subject, I believe in
providing students with a space to step away from the normal class setting to learn to have an
appreciation for music. I believe in learning through listening, playing, singing, and creating
music. I am especially interested in teaching the students to recognize the beauty of music
through singing.

I firmly believe that I am right for the job because I know how important it is to have staff
that cares about the students’ wellbeing and happiness. After student teaching at Fancher, I
truly care about the students and their growth. I learned as much as I could throughout my
years at Alma and my time during student teaching so that I could be a strong and caring
adult for these students and provide them with an enjoyable elementary music experience.
