Role: Connector

Quote: “We all have our own treasured collections...We all carry around the weird and
wonderful things we’ve come across while doing our work and living our lives.” (pg. 75)
Connection: My 2 high school memory boxes
- Throughout high school I kept photos, awards, my high school graduatio
numbers (20), gifts, notes, and more
- I put them all into a memory box--it is my high school memory box! I look back at
it to relive (in my head) memories from high school
Quote: “If you share the work of others, it’s your duty to make sure that the creators of
that work get proper credit.” (pg. 84)
Connection: Every English and History course I have ever taken in school I have been
taught and reminded about giving credit to the sources I am using
Quote: “Whether you realize it or not, you’re already telling a story about your work.
Every email you send, every text…”(pg. 95)
Connection: My social media accounts (ex: FaceBook, Instagram, Snapchat)
- The photos and captions I put out on social media tell a story about me...even if it
is in the smallest of ways it frames a story that I am opening up to the public eye
Quote: ...You get a great idea and then you realise the idea out into the world, come to
a win, lose, or draw.” (pg.99)
Connection: Harry Potter series
JK Rowling put a story out into the world that no one had thought about before,
she took a chance...and look where she is now! Harry Potter is one of the most famous
fictional series in this world today
Quote: “Make people better at something they want to be better at.” (pg.117)
Connection: College Professors
- A college professor's job is to teach their students material and course work that
students want to learn and get better at!
- Students select majors and minors of their liking in order to get better at it as well
as see if that major or minor is the path they want to go down!
- For example: I want to be a teacher and I am at Butler University to learn how to
become a teacher. My Education teacher, Professor Maurer, works hard to
“make me better” at what I want to be better at, which is being a teacher!
