Task 1
Imagine that work in the Marketing Department of Uz Auto Motors
Company. There has been decided that the company will enter the
market of one of European countries where it has not been before (at
least Eastern Europe). Imagine that certain funds have been allotted
by the management of the company to conduct research in a foreign
market. You are required to design a plan for conducting research in a
potential foreign market. You have to decide:

− What is the potential market (what is the country are you


choosing as a target market) why?

Considering existing conditions and potential of our company we


have chosen Romania as a target market, the main reason for
which is the fact that the population and living standards are
among the lowest in Europe. Transportation costs are also cheaper
because Romania is closer to us than other European countries.
Also, the ecology of this country is closer to the ecology of our
state, for example, in Germany, the sharp cooling of the air
temperature and humidity require having tools in the car to
prevent these shortcomings, and as an additional cost is added to
us.

− What is the objective of the research?

The main objective of the research is to understand the consumer s


demands and consumers` behaviour and then translates their
behaviours into the markets strategies.

− What kind of information about the potential market do you


need and why?

We need the following information about the market of Romania:

 Per capita and per household sales trends;

 Which segment of the population buys cars the most;

 Demand for the budget cars;

 Macroeconomic conditions;

 Extensive range of socioeconomic and demographic indicators;

 Consistent vehicle type and segment definitions, with historic


data;

 The market position and financial performance of the leading


national market players;

− What research tools are planning to apply? Why?

 Customer and decision-maker interviews

 Surveys (online, mobile)

 Industry and company leader research

 Focus groups and roundtables

 Economic insights

 Competition analysis

 Market sizing

 Business risk analysis

− How big will your sample be? Who will represent the sample
for your research?

We are going to conduct Multistage sampling method and we will


divide the whole population into a number of sub-populations, exactly
eight sub population because in Romania there are eight regions, then
we will begin selecting a small sample of these sub-populations at
random. Furthermore, each sub population is then divided further,
and then a small sample is again selected random. We will continue
repeating this process as many times until we can reach necessary
results.

− Are going to conduct a qualitative or quantitative research?


May be you are going to conduct both? Why?

We would conduct both of them because when entering a new


market, company should analyse both statistical data and information

about environment. We conduct them in order to analyse our
potential to enter and their potential to accept. In quantitative
research we survey, observe and take data like accounts. Main
characters will be analysed. But when entering the market, we need to
learn their location, their inner rules, their nature, their terms and
conditions to run business also. These are included in the qualitative
research.

− When you finish your research what will be your next steps?

After finishing the research, we list potential challenges our company


could face and make supply plan. In addition, we will make
marketing strategy in order to dominate in that market. For realizing
that, we will create special group of experts. In this project we choose
one responsible person who checks project implementation process
and who creates staff from local people.
