Animation Past and Present – Research Rotoscoping

What is the storyline/plot of this animation?

This movie takes place in America where a new Dangerous drug named
Substance D has created a drug pandemic within the country and 20% of the
population are addicted to it. We follow the main character Bob Arctor who’s an
undercover agent with the code name agent Fred.

He also lives with a number of drug users and has been deployed by the police to
spy on his room-mates and infiltrate the drug network. At the station other
agents along with Bob wear a scrambler suit to hide their identity so no knows
who anybody really is. This animation takes a lot of exciting turns and isn’t very
predictable.

What techniques where used to create this? Describe the process.

This film is digitally recorded with a computer called the Panasonic AG-DVX100
using real actors. The recordings are then afterwards edited with a computer
program called rotosho. Which uses rotoscope technology. The specific
animation is called interpolated rotoscope with has also been used in the film
waking life.

How would you compare this to Toy Story? (Similarities and differences)

Similarities:
1. Both were digitally made
2. Both have a cartoony style to them
Diffrences
1. One was made in 1996 the other in 2006
2. Darkly was filmed with real people then edited with computer software.
