Feedback From Mentor 23-7-2019
Focus:
Waiting until students are listening before giving instructions – Not talking over them
Clear instructions
Subtle reminders about listening, not fidgeting while giving instructions
Notes:
Good positioning at the front of the room – near [student with significant hearing loss].
Brief clear instruction about what activity you would be playing.
Your instructions about how the game works are good – but important parts were missed as they
were passing out the sheets.
Kids were finding textas in their pencil cases while you were giving important instructions about
how many to cross off at a time and 3 students asked this question.
You waited until everyone was ready to start the game – Good! Especially for students like Enrique
who would never be able to catch up of you started without them
Students were clearly engaged in the bingo task as it was completely silent as they played.
Good inclusion of geometry vocabulary terms.
Good use of the ticket reward system.
For the second round of bingo you clearly waited until all students were ready before beginning.
You gave a few hints, which helped the likes of [student], [student] etc who were struggling a bit.
[student] started to get a bit over excited in the second round, but it didn’t interfere with the
activity as the other students were so engaged.
You knew all of the students’ names – Well done.
Your voice tone and volume throughout the activity was good – clear and easy to hear for
everyone.
