Motivo di Cantastorie
The title for this piece is called the “Theme of the Storyteller” from Palermo, Sicily. It was originally tran-
scribed by the Sicilian composer-musicologist Alberto Favara during the early 1900’s. He had learned it from
a railroad capitan of the Steam Locomotive. Similar melodies like this were once used to sing the stories of
the Brigante (bandits) who roamed thru Southern Italy during the late nineteenth century.
