Solution

- The day does not look like yesterday, the sky looks dark, very cold
and windy, the temperature is lower than normal, and it seems that it
will rain today. The sounds and strong lightning’s make me think that a
strong storm is approaching. I remember that time in Canada when it
rained; where strong lightning and winds raged in the downtown park,
many cars and umbrellas were damaged and some people were seriously
injured. This day makes me think that it will happen the same that is why
we must take precautionary measures. The weather makes me she feels
good although a little worried. As a recommendation it is necessary to
shelter well and stay at home.
Unit 2.1. Going on a trip

This is an off-line non-synchronic exercise.

Rewrite the following passage in the past-tense of the underlined verbs.
Be aware of irregular verbs and write them correctly in the past tense

Hi Mum,

John and I are having a wonderful time here in Ireland. Every day
we get up early and go for a long walk in the country. When
we return we usually have a very big Irish breakfast which
normally consists of two eggs, three slices of bacon, toast and jam.
We usually order a cup of coffee after breakfast: Colombian coffee, of
course.

After breakfast we sometimes go swimming in the river. We

often meet children who like to swim there. They are very nice. At
night we nearly always drink a few pints of Guinness in the pubs bar
before we go to bed. We always sleep well after that, I can assure you.

Hi Simon, I hope you are well, thank for you invitation, I am having a good time here,
but I do not have Friends here, you should introduce me to your Friends. Yesterday I
was trying to turn on the heating but it did not work, I would advise you change the
heating; I had to endure the cold weather. The wather is colder than where I lived.
Tomorrow I am going to a party in the town centre, I hope meet people for wont feel
alone. Is funny be here.

I’ll write you when I need you. Bye.

Dear Simon,

First of all, thank you for trusting me and lending me your flat while I'm in your city.
During my stay I would like to make new friends, to visit beautiful places and take
photos. When I went to pick up the keys, Sarah was very kind to me and told me where
your flat was. While I was installing myself in the room, I wanted to turn on the heating
because it was very cold, but I couldn't find the "on/off" switch. You should place it in a
more visible place. I would like to enjoy the meals offered by that restaurant that you
mentioned, is one of my hobbies. I don't know whether to go today in the afternoon or
tomorrow, better in the morning. Now in the afternoon I plan to rest and have some tea.
I will take into account that festival, to invite your friend Sarah. Don't worry; I'll take
care of your house while you're gone.

Greetings,

John.
