GTS and GBS are the parts of IBM’s professional services arm.

GBS - Global Business Services - Deals with strategy consulting, systems integration, application
management, and a relevant lot of other stuff.

GTS - Global Technology Services - Deals with IT services, Infrastructure support and deployment
and a whole lot of other stuff, that mainly deals with services. Now GTS itself is classified into
different sub BU’s, eg: GTS-SOD, GTS-TSS, GTS-Infra Services, GTS-DWS, etc.

Organizational Structure

 Board of directors responsible for the overall running of the company and board
committees that cover specific areas of responsibility.

 Executive officers take care of hands-on operations.

 A major advantage of IBM’s organizational structure is its alignment with the company’s
aims for continued business growth based on innovation.

 There are 4 main parts in horizontal structure of IBM:

 STG (System Technology Group): This part is for Hardware.

 GTS (Global Technology Service): This part is for Service. There is ST (Service
 Team) in here.
 .GBS (Global Business Server): This part is for Consulting.
 .SWG (Soft Ware Group): This part is for Software.

Work culture
In IBM, work life balance depends upon your ability to complete work on time. They follow both
formal and informal way of communication. Towards the higher managerial position there is more
formal structure whereas towards the middle and lower management it gets a bit informal.
