Funding in Geotechnical Engineering

The Geotechnical Research Laboratory at the Sunchon National University is looking for
highly motivated and highly qualified students interested in pursuing a MS or PhD.

1. Lab Introduction
As the energy demand increases, the role of geotechnical engineering in the energy sector to
discover engineering solutions for current energy systems and environmental problems
becomes more crucial, and to solve these critical issues requires broad knowledge and
complementary approaches, including experimental, numerical and analytical methods. Our
research team provides engineering solutions to problems caused by from classical-to
emerging-geostructures. In particular, the current geotechnology is incorporated into a smart

2. Requirement
Applicants must hold a bachelor/master degree (at the time of starting the position), preferably
in geological or geotechnical engineering. TOEFL/IELTS and GRE official scores are required.
The ideal candidates should have a strong background in numerical modeling and and solid
programing skills (Matlab, C++). Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
