The Minute
The Minute is one of my favourite programmes on TV at the moment.
It was shown for the first time about six months ago and became
popular straight away. It’s a news programme aimed at young people
aged 12-16 and deals with all kinds of things that affect our lives.
The programme is on for half an hour every day. The first fifteen
minutes looks at news from around the world. In this part, teenagers
from different countries are interviewed about their lives: their schools,
their families and what they do in their free time. The second part of the programme is more about the
world of celebrities and there are often interviews with music stars or young actors. These interviews
usually happen in the TV studio, but sometimes the presenters travel to different places. Last week,
for example, one of the presenters was in New York interviewing some of the actors at the Oscars.
A lot of material for The Minute is written by talented young people. This helps make the programme
lively and interesting. The presenters are also great fun. There are two of them: Sandy Lucas and Luc
Dubois. Sandy started her career as an actor on children’s TV, had a small part in a soap opera and
then started working on the show. Luc and his band came third in a reality TV music programme. He
still enjoys singing - and sometimes performs on the show, but he prefers life as a presenter.
I’d definitely recommend The Minute. It is well presented, well written and entertaining to watch.
